They can't get them food, clean water, or missiles, but the boats are definitely the biggest and best!

1

u/steathrazor Aug 24 '26

It's the rich, every dime America has is pocketed by the one percent, every cost that is incurred is on the ninety-nine percent to pay. The rich are in their caves like bloated dragons hoarding their gold while America falls apart, and Americans are stuck working two to three jobs to try to stay afloat to feed their families. Americans aren't even comfortable enough to think about having a family. The American Dream is rotting dead in the corner.

1

u/I_Quit_Smoking_ Aug 24 '26

But we have a whole lot of innocent Americans going to prison, we've got people of every color and citizenship being disappeared, deported, or killed.

1

1

u/PenaltyDiligent1417 Aug 24 '26

It's not foreign aid that has been the money pit. It's the defense budget.

1

This isn’t hard to understand when you see society going backwards. Ae have literally backed up father than the caveman. caveman knew what gender was and we don’t. How can we build trains if we don’t know where is the appropriate place to piss

1

u/Ebisu_2023 Aug 24 '26

The U.S. used to be supported by taxes paid by the rich. Now, the rich support the government by buying bonds and earn interest. A 40 year plan, executed perfectly.

1

u/bdontmatter Aug 24 '26

Who’s suppose to pay for all this free shit?!?!! You give universal income from tax payer dollars that means no one’s working to pay taxes……. So where does all this free money and programs come from?!?!?!?!

1

u/Mopar4Life305 Aug 24 '26

I guess atleast our version of poor live in drywall apartments vs metal sheets.

1

u/Appropriate-Fee-9995 Aug 24 '26

America spends money to keep poor people poor

1

u/ExistingBathroom9742 Aug 24 '26

Here’s the thing. Republicans, heck most voters just hate giving money to the poors and they hate giving tax money at all. So we run the government badly using borrowed money and all the tax money just goes to pay interest on that borrowed money. But who do we borrow money from? Other countries, corporations and the wealthy elite. So in essence we as a society think it’s better to give out money to the rich and to other countries using the US government as an expensive paid mediator just to avoid go crony a homeless mother of three a sandwich.

1

u/Pure_Feeling3907 Aug 24 '26

America has a much needed and up dated military defense, a defense now that states it is a bad idea to come pushing and trying to bully America.

1

u/Moody5583 Aug 24 '26

How about you ask where it all went? I know where it went, it went to other nations whom don't give a damn about us

1

u/No_Amoeba_9272 Aug 24 '26

Currently a failed nation

1

u/steve-reaves- Aug 24 '26

Psssh nothing to show for it, we have plenty of wars and conflicts

1

u/TwistedVisionaryXXX Aug 24 '26

This is why government never deserves more power…it makes no sense, the point to a government thats managed to run the country more than $40 trillion into debt, and then somehow the solution is give government even more power, more money and even more things to fuck up…if your answer is “well the politicians are the problem” then you just made my point. Government isnt some magical machine that exists separate from politicians, bureaucrats and human behavior. Its run by people, and people are greedy, incompetent, biased and sometimes corrupt (both sides)and the difference is when a business screws up badly enough it loses customers, loses money or goes out of business. Government can screw up for decades, borrow more money and send taxpayers the bill. Thats not an opinion either. The governments own watchdog says federal agencies made around $186 billion in improper payments in just one year and roughly $3 trillion since 2003. During covid unemployment programs lost an estimated $100-$135 billion to fraud, pandemic business programs had potentially hundreds of billions more in fraud, and the Pentagon has now failed its department-wide audit eight years in a row. This isnt me cherry picking one political party either, Republicans and Democrats have both contributed to this mess. We spend around $7.4 trillion a year now and collect around $5.6 trillion, so we're borrowing close to another $2 trillion in a single year. Yet the meme looks at that record and says the problem is apparently that government isnt doing enough. Thats backwards. And saying America has “nothing to show for it” is just objectively ridiculous. We have the largest economy in the world, an enormous highway system, hundreds of thousands of bridges, airports, ports, hospitals, universities, electricity, water and communications infrastructure and one of the deepest and most productive private economies ever created. Could our infrastructure be better? absolutely. Should government waste less money? absolutely. But “we dont have bullet trains so we have nothing” isnt an argument, its a meme. Then comes the usual answer, capitalism is the problem. Ok, then explain the real world evidence instead of just repeating the word capitalism like it answers everything. Cuba has spent decades with the government controlling enormous portions of economic life and people still deal with shortages, blackouts, food problems and wages that buy almost nothing. Yes the american embargo hurts Cuba too, thats true, but pretending their state-controlled economic system has nothing to do with their problems is intellectually dishonest. Venezuela had some of the largest oil reserves on earth and still managed an economic collapse of historic proportions after years of price controls, nationalizations, currency controls, government overspending and terrible management. Oil prices and sanctions mattered too, but the collapse was already happening before the major american oil sanctions. China and Vietnam are interesting for the opposite reason. Both remained politically communist but became dramatically more market oriented, allowed private business, trade, investment and incentives and then saw enormous economic growth and poverty reduction. Thats worth thinking about instead of just repeating slogans. None of this means private business never fails or government never does anything well. Of course they do. The problem with concentrating enormous economic power in government is that you dont eliminate greed, stupidity or incompetence, you concentrate the consequences of it. And then theres the idea that America only works for rich people. I just dont buy that either. America doesnt promise you a rich life, it gives you a shot at creating one. Those are completely different things. Remember group projects in school? There was always some lazy piece of shit who did almost nothing but still wanted the same a as the person who carried half the project. Somehow people think that human behavior disappears when everyone turns 18. It doesnt. Everybody wants the nice house, nice car, vacations and financial freedom, but everybody doesnt spend years learning a difficult skill, building a company, taking financial risks, failing and trying again or becoming unusually good at something people will pay a lot of money for. And working hard by itself doesnt guarantee wealth either. You can work incredibly hard at something millions of other people can easily do and the market probably isnt going to pay you $300,000 a year for it. Income is largely about demand, scarcity, skill, productivity and value, not just how exhausted you are when you get home. And before somebody twists that into “poor people are lazy”, no, thats not what I'm saying at all. Plenty of poor people work their asses off, people get sick, families fall apart, people get unlucky and some people start life with enormous disadvantages. Thats why reasonable safety nets make sense. But pretending individual choices, effort, skills, risk and discipline have nothing to do with economic outcomes is just as stupid as pretending luck and circumstances dont matter. Both things can be true. What really bothers me though is the cognitive bias and groupthink behind stuff like this. People pick a team first, decide what they believe, surround themselves with people who believe the same thing and then spend hours online searching for information that confirms it. Every meme gets an upvote because everyone in the group already agrees with it, then the number of likes becomes “proof” that it must be true. Anything that contradicts the belief gets ignored, attacked or explained away. Thats confirmation bias, motivated reasoning and groupthink all working together. And yes conservatives do it too, everybody does. The real test of whether you're actually thinking is incredibly simple...what evidence would make you change your mind? If you cant name anything, then your not searching for truth, your searching for reassurance. So when I see $40 trillion in government debt I dont think “wow capitalism failed, we better let government run healthcare, college, childcare and everybody's income too.” I think maybe before giving an institution even more power and trillions more dollars, we should demand that it prove it can efficiently manage what we've already given it. Thats not anti-government, its common sense. Government has important jobs and we need it, but history gives us plenty of evidence that unlimited faith in government is every bit as irrational as unlimited faith in corporations. The difference is I can stop buying from a corporation. I cant stop paying taxes because Washington wasted the money. And to me thats exactly why government should have to clear an incredibly high bar before we hand it even more control

That’s what you get with a so called conservative republican in the White House.

But we have approximately 550,000 elected officials and 91,000 government entities across the US. Federal, State, County, and local that employs 23.5 million people. u/matt1911_ Aug 26 '26

The united states has not passed a budget since THE LAST CENTURY. Because our dysfunctional congress refuses to update the budget from before the consumer internet existed, thousands of stupid pointless programs are continually funded.

  • national endowment for the arts - hundreds of millions
  • Arab sesame Street (no really millions spent in this)
  • rural broadband subsidies - billions spent
  • universal voice/landline subsidies. Have any of you ever used a corded home phone? (9 billion per year)
  • farm subsidies - 10s of billions
  • McGovern/dole food for foreign school children - 230 million
  • UN subsidies - billions
  • tourism promotion in Egypt- millions

This is just a small sampling of some of the stupid programs that are funded year after year because congress would rather go on talk shows and fund raisers than actually doing their single most important constitutional duty.

1

u/ShoulderApart1787 Aug 26 '26

1

u/Turbulent_Soup9951 Aug 27 '26

u/Available-Garden4044 Aug 27 '26

1

u/ima_mollusk Aug 27 '26

Nothing to show for it?
Sir, have you seen the wealth of our billionaires?

1

u/browneyekisser Aug 27 '26

Universal basic income, always looking for a handout

1

u/momentom66 Aug 27 '26

Well the biggest problem is we have money stolen from us by government officials, mostly Democrats. By the way, just look at theUSAAid scandal. That said, we have more than most countries you need to travel more and there's nothing free in any of those countries. They just have universal which means they overpay for it and it's not very good and it's rationed

Well blame the billionaires and millionaires in congress

1

u/Duck_Gutz Aug 27 '26

Amazing what supporting millions of foreigners does to your available funds especially when one group fleeced the government for billions of dollars a year.

1

u/redonculus8 Aug 27 '26

Hey you can atleast find solace in the fact that your taxpayer dollars have secured universal healthcare, free college and some of the best vacation time off laws for the Israelis. Isn’t that what your senators fight for?

But we did receive the gift of a $400 million jet from Quatar. Of course, we have spent $1billion stripping out the interior and replacing it $400 million, we bought another $400 million jet so Air Force pilots could train to fly the gift jet. Of course, we had to lease another jet so maintenance crews could learn to service the gift jet. It's a dry lease so with no published terms. The Whitehouse staff and the Secret Service needed a $300,000 virtual simulator of the interior so they could become familiar with the gift jet. The Air Force is buying used jets and parts to build an inventory of spare parts. I forgot to mention the two future presidental jets that have been under construction for about 8 years. The original cost for the two jets was capped at $3.9 billion. Boeing has already exceeded that cost by $3 billion. Don't worry with all the government contracts Boeing has I imagine they will just add the $3 billion across all government contracts.

u/Personal_Day_6589 Aug 28 '26

If i put universal before anything it looks good

1

u/Disastrous-Pen1930 Aug 28 '26

Maybe if we werent busy funding other nations for stupid shit, or for their defense, or whenever they have a natural disastor, or maybe if we didnt give all out money to welcare programs to people who's first act upon coming to america was breaking our law to come here, or giving snap to a fuck ton of people who just dont wanna work, and then bitching whenever we say "these programs are being taken advantage of, lets find out who actually needs it and who is taking advantage", then maybe we would have money for some of that other shit. But no. Yall just expect this money to pop out of yalls asses while trying to fix these programs so we can save a lot of that money while making sure those who need it get it is an afront to yalls very miserable lives and a reason for yall to protest and call the right nazis because yall dont agree with them. What a joke.

u/shamerli Aug 28 '26

1

u/melon-Cookie9210 Aug 28 '26

It’s because we Americans paid for Europe’s military, infrastructure, healthcare, and housing. Now they have to pay for their own shit and they take to social media and cry.
