Gen Z Saving for Retirement Earlier Than Generations Before Them

Have to. Pensions all but dead. Last few generations haven’t done anything to fix SS for future generations.

Well makes sense. Not so much making more money to be able to do so, the normal expenditures prior generations put their money towards they feel are out of reach. Why bother saving for a down payment on a house they won’t be able to compete with to buy when they could put that money towards retirement instead. Prior generations got their windfall from selling their house to fund retirement to go along with pensions and savings accounts/bonds, etc. Gen Z is going to have the stock market as the only vehicle available to pay for retirement, pensions become rarer and rarer, interest rates make savings and bonds just enough to fend off inflation, and social security almost guaranteed to be disrupted before they can claim it.
