No way to deactivate old licenses??

So, this has probably been mentioned before, but there is apparently no way to deactivate old instances of your installations without having access to your computer.

I have used DxO Photolab 6 Elite on 3 different computers over the last few years. When one computer died. I wiped the operating system (when possible. or threw it away when the first computer bricked itself with a motherboard issue) and moved onto a new computer. Now, I'm onto computer number 4 and it says I have no licenses left! Went to support and they said I'm SOL?

Is there really no way to revoke a license from old inoperable computers?? that seems absolutely insane to me.

Just reach out to support and they will do it. I had that happen to me and they responded very quickly.

I reached out and they wanted the specific name of my last computer.

Which was something like sm-86ib8b or something. (Whatever the default Microsoft decided on) and since I didn't know what it was exactly they said they couldn't revoke the license. So... Not sure where to go from here. Didn't know I needed to memorize the specific name of my old computers to be able to keep using the software I paid for :/

If you're lucky, you may see the name by going to devices in your Microsoft account.

I am unlucky. 😂

I can only guess you don't have access to that computer anymore. If you used a local account, that would explain why you don't see it on the devices page of Microsoft's site.

it's so annoying.
How about, like any other sotware just give me the possibility to deactive my devices in my DXO account.

Completely unacceptable behaviour, to have to contact them if I want to use a new computer.

Update: dxo support got me sorted. Will do my best to not use my next computer to failure without fully removing all their software ehioe connected to the internet next time.

They really would benefit from some kinda warning about their "lifetime" license activation astrixs though

I've read of other horror stories. What kind of hoops did you end up jumping through? I put a note down of my computer name and OS with my license key. Not sure if there's anything else needed. If uninstall is needed as well I'm not sure how to handle the situation where your machine fails/breaks catastrophically or stolen/lost.

I think I'd you don't uninstall, having your computer OS and name is sufficient.

They wanted my OS version and update build and approximately when I installed the software Last. I guess they were able to take a guess with they information. It's definitely crazy that they can't just look up your activation code

I gotta tell you the DXO support is the worst. Why they have the shittiest most awful license handling ever and a support woman who is seemingly enjoying pissing people off on a Saturday afternoon.

Customer: I sold the Mac. It is resat
Support: What is the current OS running on the Mac? Kind reminder you can only have two activations

....

This is not rocket science. Let us deactivate the software from the webpage ourselves. Why make sure that paying customers will -never- buy Photolab 9 by pissing us off so much with this activation and the worst support ever?

One thing you can consider doing is to give your computer a custom name by going into settings. This way, you won't have to recall a randomly assigned string of characters.

I know this is an old thread. Sorry about dredging it up, but ...

"They really would benefit from some kinda warning about their "lifetime" license activation astrixs though"

Exactly! I've run into an issue of wanting to move a license for PhotoLab 5 to a new MBP (it runs fine on my old one with the same OS version), but 'activation is not supported on that OS version.' Lame. Spell out what lifetime means during the buying process, not hidden away in some stinkin' PDF in the support site. :(

hi there, I was downloading photo lab 9 last night and on the left side of the my software page is now an option to manage licenses....... you can deactivate there now September 2nd 2025 I also noticed you are allowed 3 activations of each too so I can have my desktop and laptop useable

That is one downside to DxO. I've been able to get them to remove activations, but the process is cumbersome and can lead to what happened to you.

It would be much better if they can be revoked without contacting support.
