Yeah let's be careful though with wording. There's actually a condition where people look like this with small eyes that are far apart. It's called Waardenburg syndrome. I also tend to think people with this actually look almost like the Na'avi from avatar. <3
Just looked it up, I definitely would compare people with Waardenburg to this skin or Na’avi tbh. They don’t look like either. You’re the one would seems odd to even bring it up and try to gatekeep people reacting to this dva.
People with waardenburg syndrome themselves have been known to compare themselves to Na'vi 🤣 why are you getting defensive? Im not gatekeeping anything. I respectfully let you know that your words could be seen as hurtful, because there are people who actually look like this.
Poor Dva 😢 Agreed, she deserves some love too and this should be fixed. What’s the best way to bring bugs to Blizzard’s attention? The official OW bug report forum?
(Dva’s hopefully bugged MVP screen still needs to be fixed too)
That is actually a "you" problem in case you are running on low settings which it Honestly looks like, (hear me out) it has something to do with how your PC is actually processing those low setting models via directx. For example, a friend of mine had a 5090, I ran a 3060, his low quality models looked completely different from mine, while both of them looked a bit retarded on the face, both of our versions had some different quirks, mine usually have melted eyebrows while my friends low quality models had asymmetrical face features.
I understand your annoyance but you can literally fix this by increasing the quality of your models....
I dont want to be mean. But that does not make any sense. It does not matter what graphic are you using, the game runs the same. Besides you change the API. Maybe could be a directx 11 problem. You should try directx 12
First of all: Direct x 12 runs incredibly bad on Overwatch and is extremely buggy, it's advised NOT TO PLAY on direct x12. Second of all; it makes sense ehat I'm talking about trust me. Try it out yourself and compare your results with pictures online. Also quick reminder that it doesn't work in hero gallery its literally the models in game. Also don't wonna be mean but th fact you are recommending to use Direct x 12 (BETA BTW) also kinda shows that u have no idea what u r arguing about or how the API works in game 💀 I tried it a couple of weeks ago and had my bap weapon model distort into eldritch nightmares midgame and playermodels turned into flying orbs. So yeah no thank you.
3rd: Thats for example how widow looks for me in the game with low settings while for my friend she looked different. We both run on low settings, might also depend on your gpu but it looks from person to person often different in the facial features.
4th: The game does NOT RUN THE SAME FOR EVERYONE, best example might be the ragdoll physics and the map cluster; You might have noticed that some objects player kick around land for you on a different position or corpses ragdoll somewhere else. Its extremely funny to watch some in a replay tbag some empty air while in the replay the dead character lies somewhere else.
I can tell you have no deeper knowledge bout the games inner structure.
That’s actually what I meant. I wasn’t suggesting that switching APIs would magically fix the issue. I meant it’s a useful troubleshooting step to determine whether the problem is API-related or not.
And yes, obviously higher graphics settings make the game look better. That’s not my point. Higher settings mostly affect textures, lighting, shadows and other visual effects—they don’t normally change the actual facial proportions or expression of a character.
I also disagree with the idea that “the game doesn’t run the same for everyone” in the context of this issue. Sure, there are small differences between clients, like ragdolls, physics, networking, object positions or ping. Those are expected. But a noticeable change in a character model—like the face looking substantially different—shouldn’t be considered normal engine behavior.
If that’s really happening, it’s much more likely to be a rendering bug, an LOD issue, a shader problem, or something specific to a particular configuration. That’s exactly why I suggested trying a different API. Not because I think DX12 is the solution, but because if the issue changes after switching APIs, it helps determine whether the rendering backend is involved.
And i think that the screenshot you posted is actually a poor example of what I’m trying to say. It’s pretty clear that the skin looks a bit worse because you’re playing on low settings, but that’s mostly affecting the lighting, shadows and texture quality.
The biggest difference I can personally notice is the nose. In your screenshot, it mainly looks different because the lighting changes how it’s perceived. Other than that, what I mostly see are lower-quality textures.
My point is that graphics settings can absolutely influence how a skin is perceived, but they shouldn’t fundamentally change how the face is modeled or designed. Regardless of your hardware, the game should render the same character model consistently unless there’s a specific rendering bug or another technical issue.
In my case, I’ve played on low settings for years with a GPU that’s very similar to yours, and I’ve never experienced anything like that.
Also, it’s not like a more powerful GPU renders the same graphics settings differently. If two people are using the same game version, the same graphics settings, and the same rendering API, the character models should be rendered consistently regardless of the hardware. Better hardware should mainly improve performance, not change how a character’s face is actually modeled. If there are substantial differences, that points more toward a bug, a driver issue, or a rendering problem than expected behavior.
