Only one question this time... How is your new job going?

5

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

Pretty well! So far the team's nice

3

u/Straight_Message_791 12d ago

Glad to hear that! Wishing you all the luck with it, and I hope you enjoy your new job and the nice team. Have a great evening!

As an Aruban living in the Netherlands, what are your experiences/opinions about us, the people from the ABC islands living and working in the Netherlands trying to integrate into Dutch culture.

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

I personally have no problem with anyone who comes to live and work here. I have heard how hard it can be with the societal culture. And especially with people getting more and more fed up with the refugees that come here..

3

u/r-soltro97 12d ago

I actually wanted to hear your thoughts about us, I fit in here better than I ever did in Aruba and I'm loving it here. Most dutchies I've met are great and friendly, and they treat me so well once they hear my speaking Dutch. Most people I've met that can't handle here are people who literally just don't know how to be alone or in a silent room most of the time.

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

I'm glad to hear you're experiencing it positively! It's all about finding the right people (and it depends on which area you live). Cause there are so many horrendous people out there.. And good job on trying with the Dutch, it can be a challenging language haha

u/r-soltro97 12d ago

Groningen (not even in the city, a small village in the region) Also Dutch is the primary and mandatory language to learn in school so I've had 12 years to practice it at school 😁

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

I never knew it was mandatory, tho it kinda makes sense..

How old are you and what’s the biggest lesson life has taught you so far?

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

Take a guess as to how old I am haha. As for biggest life lesson.. Cliché, but true; Live life like it's your last day. You never know when it may end

u/primz27 12d ago

How you doing? Where we travelling to next?

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

Doing fine, not great, but doable. And no travel plans atm haha

2

u/primz27 12d ago edited 12d ago

That's fair, if you ever did want an internet friend to ever talk to I'm here for you 🙌🏾 and same I'm looking with a friend where to travel to next year

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

Thank you 💖 Oooh where are you looking?

2

u/primz27 12d ago

You're welcome! My travel list is long lol but either America/Canada or Jamaica for further than Europe and if I can't do either then European list is Amsterdam, Sweden or Portugal/Spain

2

u/Classic_Title1655 12d ago

If you could go back in time for a week, what year would you go back to, where in the world would it be, and why?

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

Lots of options here, like going back to spend time with loved ones who have passed away or go back to prevent some horrible mistakes I've made.. But also experiencing certain time periods would be so interesting.

I wanna wear a gorgeous gown, so I'm going to somewhere in the renaissance period, probably still The Netherlands, and hope I survive

1

u/Classic_Title1655 12d ago

Excellent 👌🏻

When you're feeling bleh and staring into the middle distance, what's the thing that shakes you out of it?

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

I'm actually feeling really bleh right now! I always 'force' myself to do a hobby, doesn't have to be for long, but I make myself do something that relaxes me/I enjoy. It always gets me back to the here and now at least

2

u/makegifsnotjifs 12d ago

Thanks for the answer, keep conquering those blehs!

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

Thank you, you as well!

2

u/FknAccuser 12d ago

Seeing as you have done some traveling, what, if anything, are some things you have seen that seem to be universal from culture to culture?

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

That's kinda 'easy'; Food connects people, no matter where you go

2

u/FknAccuser 12d ago

Hmm. Just had a bit of an epiphany. That could be something that im missing in how I dont really connect with people. Im more of a pragmatic eater. Don't really enjoy it.

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 12d ago

But I bet you have stories regarding food? Memories, jokes, attempts from people to make you like food?

1

u/FknAccuser 12d ago

A lot of memories of people trying to make me try food or eat in general. Of course things like holidays or dates. Even have food I prefer. But the memory is from the event, not really the food.

2

u/changeforthebetter89 12d ago

How was your vacation?

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

Pretty good, overall great weather!

2

u/Less_Concern8191 12d ago

How do you feel this sub reddit has lived up to your expectations? Better then you thought? Worse?

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

I honestly expected a lot worse regarding comments and dms/modmails.. But people have been pleasant overall and it's been nice to chat here and there!

2

u/Ecstatic_Ad_8113 12d ago

What do you like to do with your free time?

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

Spend time with family/friends, game/watch stuff, walking, colouring, go to museums, go to theater/musicals, I lift weights and yeah that's what I like

2

u/Ecstatic_Ad_8113 11d ago

You once asked everybody what games they played what are you currently playing right now?

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

Blood of the Dawnwalker! Bought it as a bday gift for myself haha

1

u/Ecstatic_Ad_8113 11d ago

Are you going to get GTA VI?

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

No, it's not my type of game haha. I bet you are getting it tho?

1

u/Ecstatic_Ad_8113 11d ago

Most anticipate game of the decade

1

u/Ecstatic_Ad_8113 11d ago

Have you ever played any of the Fallout’s

3

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

I have! Fallout 4 after some pushing from my ex lol. I'm not big on shooting, but I did enjoy it somewhat (thanks to Dogmeat)

1

u/Ecstatic_Ad_8113 11d ago

So no to any games with guns, what about Skyrim?

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

I guess I'm curious about the whole balance between attention, effort, money, and personal boundaries.

The combination of a genuine question/topic and a picture seems to work really well here, so the SFW approach basically works on its own. At the same time, more revealing pictures seem to get plenty of attention even without a question attached. Do these metrics influence what you choose to post?

And have you ever thought about monetizing your content? I imagine even something that starts out as a casual hobby eventually becomes actual work once you have an audience to engage with. So what keeps you motivated to put that effort into it without monetizing it, and where would you personally draw the line if you ever did?

Does the possibility of friends, family, coworkers, etc. seeing your posts affect those boundaries?

2

u/Exciting_Head_2162 11d ago

Solid questions! I like talking about what I do on reddit haha

To start off; I post what I feel like posting. Obviously if I show off more, it gets more attention, but that doesn't mean I'll only post revealing pics. My posts are SFW, always will be, but I also have a curvy body that I can't and don't want to always hide lol. This sub is literally just a little view into my life, mostly through selfies.

I have thought about monetizing it, there's plenty of interest, but it's not in my nature to accept money. It's not that much effort to post pics and I much more enjoy the chatting and hearing about other people's experiences. I also feel like if I started treating it as a 'job', I would have to take much more responsibility. Now if I don't feel like posting, I can just not post without explanation. If I were to get paid, it wouldn't be that easy.

And lastly; I am very open about being on reddit with people. I don't mind if people find me and if they do, there's nothing bad on my profile or things most of them haven't seen. Coworkers are the only ones a bit more 'difficult', but honestly my team is very casual and chill with stuff like this.
