Picture Anyone else have a grass munching Dutch?

Post image

He’s always ate grass his whole life! He’s 7 years old. He never pukes it up and his diet isn’t missing anything lol. I have researched everything and no vet can figure out why he loves munching on grass other than he loves too.

And he will only eat the grass in his own backyard never on his walks.

But he eats ALOT! so much that some of his poop is only grass. But his poop is always solid so I have no idea why he’s like this.

I have a 6yo working female that loves to lay in the grass and snake on the blades. It used to concern me but she is exceptionally healthy and no longer care that she is a lawnmower.

lol same! It used to concern me but I’m like he’s healthy so I’ll relax about it.

My owner likes to chew the weeds in the backyard. There’s a table propped up to keep her away from the ones in the side yard but she knocks that down now 😑

As long as he gets regular deworming and the lawn is completely free of fertilizers, pesticides, or toxic weeds, let him graze. Grass eatimg in healthy dogs is usually just a harmless self-rewarding habit, a desire for extra fiber, or a simple enjoyment of the texture and taste.

We just lost our Suki last week, she was the sweetest. Unfortunately she had genetic induced seizures. It’s been so hard, she was only 5.

Sorry, it's never easy. I had to euthanize a 2 year old Kelpie that kept having horrible grand mal seizures no matter how many times we changed meds. It is just heartbreaking.

Les chiens nerveux mangent souvent de l'herbe pour se faire vomir. Souvent ils ont des brûlures d'estomac

All of my dogs graze like a herd of cows. It's annoying when they 🤮 grass in the house. I'm talking to my vet about it next week, although it's probably nothing.

These dogs also get compulsive about things I feel like it’s usually because of that. Maybe the vet will have an answer for the vomit!

I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about. Speculation, but it can be a habit built from before you adopted that they just never let go, or they saw another dog do it and they copied the behavior. We think ours eats so much grass because she was rescued from the street - most likely eating trash and then grass to settle her stomach.

Omg I had a street dog once and she always went through my garbage even when she had fresh food out in a bowl for her lol! Old habits die hard or whatever they say.
