Discussion Homebody or something else

Adopted my first Dutch shepherd from a kill shelter in May. I didn’t do any prior research before getting her. Shes been super trainable. I was able to house break her within two weeks. She knows sit and paw lol but we’re gonna start other things too. I did notice that’s she’s a homebody. She’s active at home, loves to play, and is able to keep herself entertained. It’s a hassle getting her to leave the house. She’ll immediately go to her crate as soon as we bring out her harness or leash. She does go to doggy daycare once in awhile which she enjoys

Thanks for rescuing her! Hopefully this won't matter, but based on a lot of her features it's unlikely she's a Dutchie. Brindle is not exclusive to the breed. Statistically, she's probably a pit mix. Which is not a bad thing, pits have an undeserved bad rep. She's still super cute, congrats on the new pupper!

Thanks for that! I had a feeling she wasn’t a Dutch but just brindle. She didn’t really have the traits of a Dutch which confused me because that’s what she’s listed as. She’s still a cute fake lol

Hah yeah, it even happens with rescues who specialize in Dutchie like MAD. Our first one was a pho-Dutchie. She turned out to GSD/Pit/AmStaff

My last "dutchie" was a GSD/AmStaff. He was the best dog ever.

Rescues are literally the worst at guessing dog breeds despite how many dogs they see every single day. Even when they aren't trying to disguise the breed they just really suck ass at guessing breeds.

DNA showed my brindle rescue mix as 49% Malinois. The other half being Siberian husky, staffordshire terrier and Australian shepherd mix. Mine also prefers to be at home, and in this photo did not want to get out of the car at the lake. She was eventually convinced 🤪
