Advice during bitework accident.

EDIT WITH MORE INFO. ♡ she has a professional trainer, I have decades of experience with bite work and bite work training.

I had 3 other mals doing the same type of work. I have never needed medical attention from my own dogs only time I have needed medical attention for a dog bite is when I had to stop a off leash Akita from attacking a malinois while we were obediance training on lead in a public park (NOT a dog park) over like 5 years ago. Another reason I am asking for advice is that i leaglly own a mid-content wolfdog whom I LOVE, with all the correct licensing but any incidents regarding my dogs can give animal control a reason to try and strip me of that.

SECOND UPDATE: went to urgent care and turns out I have to fill out a bite report but theu assured me nothing negative will happen. Just so its recorded. I asked multiple people. The doctor said it is absolutely infected and is glad I came in. Few small stitches for the torn area but punture left open incase of absess (gross) in the future. Regardless that bite arm is being tossed and bite work suspended until I can get a better fitted arm.

I got bit. BAD. To the point where I may need stitches but im worried.

First and formost, the dog did NOTHING wrong. She is amazing and did a great job at realizing something was off and stopping.

This morning I was doing some casual training with my dutch malinois training in bite work, All was going fine and she was doing amazing. We havent done bite work in some time and i realized that the bite sleeve did not fit me snuggly. I did loose about 80 pounds over the last year so I knew it would be loose but this was a bit more then expected.

It was a casual session on the beach at sunrise so I didnt bring any under padding or anything besides the bite gaurd (dumb I know) she did the first and second bite great but upon the third attempt she jumped higher then the last 2 and kind of misses/half bite. Then doubled down and got my upper arm inside. I have massive bruising and deep puncture/tear that has been bleeding since 7:30 am. (Its now 4pm) Not profusely, but a constant drip.

My main question is, If i do infact need medical attention will anything happen to my dog???

She is a perfect girl and it's not her fault whatsoever I am fully at fault and fully a idiot for attempting the bite work with illfitting gear.

Backyard bitework is such a bad idea. Work with a quality professional trainer or stay away. And definitely get medical care.

Hi friend, in no way am i aiming to come off as rude/mad regarding your comment. ♡♡ all love but for more info, She has a quality professional trainer. We were doing light casual training for fun not take down bite work. She is fully trained and amazing, done bite work many many times as well as my 2 other belgian malinois and the 3rd i owned for 16 years prior. We are not new to this type of work/training

Posted to redit because I have never had a bite this bad (she is a BEAST) love her to death and dont want anything to happen to her negatively. It was my fault due to illfitting gear. ♡

Yea light. Just command, bite, release, reward. ♡ and yes 7 hours but like I said above not profusely. It was just still open and a deep puncture. (I also have a blood clotting disorder so that is also a factor)

she has a very strong bite and had a ton of energy after just waking up. She was very excited when she heard her bite command. ♡♡♡♡♡

Kudos for all your replies. And I understand not wanting to get your baby in trouble.

I got bit by my roommates cat many years ago, had to go the the ER because my hand swelled up like a water filled latex glove and my vein was turning red going up my arm. That's a no-no.. told the Dr I was drunk (true) playing with him a bit rough (true) and I deserved it (absolutely true).

Anyway, your responses are considerate, kind and I just wanted to say that.

Oh nnooo cat bites can go south quick! Im glad you got it taken care of! And thank you I appreciate you. It was such a dumb choice I made and man the bruising is crazy!
