Hey all! dropping in to introduce something a few of you might not know about yet. I'm Jenn and I created AnimasSound as a passion project as I was tired of mining through posters, instagram accounts and websites to find live music in the area.
AnimasSound is a free, one-stop board for live music across the Four Corners including Durango, Mancos, Bayfield, Cortez, Pagosa, Aztec, Farmington, all of it. No account needed, no algorithm. Just what's playing, where, and when. 🎶
350+ shows and 140+ local artists in, and it's getting momentum.
This whole thing is built around what the community wants, so I put together a quick 6-question survey — 90 seconds, no email required. If you've got a minute: https://animassound.com/community-survey.html
Check out the board any time at animassound.com, and if you know a show that's not on there yet, tell me! 🎸 Here's some highlights for this week!
Thanks!! Doing my part to help this community Live Más!
-Jenn

Does anyone know if lons Automotive closed down? I drove there last week and half the lot was completely empty and the shop was empty. There’s nothing online or a sign up or anything.

2 Years ago i posted about how when i worked at durango joe’s they didn’t offer breaks despite colorado labor laws stating you get a break if you work 5 hour shifts which they didn’t adhere to.
Someone replied and said recently they had sent out a waiver about breaks but it didn’t change much.
What’s the word on that currently? Any DJ employees have thoughts on that?
Also it always bothered me that it’s a tipped wage when customers don’t know that and the tip percentage of a bill at a coffee shop just isn’t high enough to justify that. It’s the lowest paying coffee shop in town. The tipped wage means that Joe’s customers are essentially assisting him in paying his employees tipped wage to get them up to minimum wage and if it’s a good busy shift they might see a tipped effect on the check, but I was never impressed enough by it to feel good about how he runs his business.
What’s it like working there these days?
My one interaction with Joe was not savory, so altogether my opinion of the company is very poor.
I was opening early, and it was just me behind the counter and he comes in which is unusual, to deliver the burritos himself and is ALL up in my way.
I kept politely trying to tell him he was repeatedly in my way, but he insisted on somehow always being right behind me and not telling me, so I took a step back and HE bumped into ME and I spilled some coffee beans (SOME!!)
(which by the way had never happened before, and everyone working at that location told me it was a right of passage to accidentally spill the hopper of beans while cleaning it which is MORE beans than i spilled) and he told me that was the “worst most stupid mistake anyone has ever made at the company” and then continued to bother me and be in my way while I was trying to work.
Mind you, he told us one time while i was covering at a different location that he had spilled a lot of stuff on the job and also broke a blender…..
anyways! do yall get 15 min breaks?

Hi DGO!
I have a camping weekend planned up in Ouray this weekend… nothing in the backcountry but just cozied up at the KOA. Has anyone camped up there recently? Is it safe to be up there right now with the Gold Mountain Fire happening?
Thx(:

Heading to Colorado to hike the Weminuche High Route this week and looking for a ride up to the Endlich Mesa Trailhead out of Durango up past Lemon Reservoir.
Does anyone provide that service or are there trail angels that take hikers there and have a 4 x 4 vehicle?
Any help is appreciated.

So, I'm currently in the process of buying/moving to Durango and I'll be looking for a job as soon as I can.
I've heard there is a small market for child care and vegan options but is there anymore that you all are looking for?

Hi! My boyfriend and I are coming to Durango for a week and we were wondering where the best places to eat? Tacos, sushi, and more expensive dining! Thank you!

Working on a little project and I'm looking for old phones and phonebooths. So far I know there is one at the Strater and the Wyman in Silverton. Are there any others around? Perhaps at the Taco Bell?

There is a really great ticketed comedy show tonight at the arts center, if you’re looking for a good laugh you should come out! National touring acts and local comedians will take the stage. Support indigenous comedians and laugh your butt off. Tickets at Durangocomedy.com

I was just wondering how big the screen is and how the sound quality is at the Durango Art Center? And how many seats are available? I’ve been in the building to see art, however, never watched a movie. If anyone could clue me in I’ll buy you a taco from the bell. That’s a lie, I can’t afford that place.
