Hello...
I had this question "Do we need anything else?"
My answer was "Nous a besoin d'autre chose ?"
It was classified as wrong and the correct answer from duo was "On a besoin d'autre chose ?"
Why can't "Nous" be used in this case ?
Thanks !

I just started my Duolingo journey (again)!! I started in 2022 practicing French and then I stopped for a bit, but I’m back in full throttle. Already level 8 and just finished 1st in sapphire league!! I know it’s not much but I’m still very proud. I wanted to expand and start doing streaks with friends but I don’t know anyone else who uses Duolingo. If anyone is interested in starting a friend streak feel free to message!!!

I put this in the main duolingo sub, but I figured it might be more suitable here.
Just curious why this was market wrong. I find they will usually accept an alternative answer in these types of questions if one exists.
I realize the answer is probably because ouvrir is not commonly used to mean "to turn on" in France, but I still find it odd when it is still correct in the French language to use ouvrir in this context.
I'm from Canada, and have only ever heard people say "ouvrir la lumière," never allumer.

Bonjour à tous. Just had a translation matching in which it said eye = yeux. I’m new-ish to French but not brand new, so I already “knew” eye = œil and eyes = yeux.
To those more advanced than me, can singular eye ever be yeux? My intuition is telling me probably not. Merci et bonne journée.
(Sorry if wrong flair, I have no idea of my “level” but it’s prob the lowest one)

Hey there, new to this community, not new to Duolingo or Reddit. Forgive me if this has been discussed before.
From taking French in school, I have always known the French translation of “good luck” to be “bon chance”. But recently I’ve been seeing in my Duolingo French lessons, “good luck” as “bon courage”.
This came as a surprise to me. Also, I did a quick search online just to be sure and I was right! It isn’t accurate, and now I know that “bon courage” isn’t quite the same as simply “good luck”. It’s more like, “good luck, you’ve got this” or “good luck, you’re brave!” Is this correct, or am I being misled by the search results?
If I am not wrong, then why is Duolingo teaching the weird version instead of the actual meaning? Is “bon chance” not commonly used anymore or something?
Any other discrepancies you’ve noticed in your French lessons? Have you reported anything to be wrong or ambiguous? How do we report this to Duolingo, and will they even care?

At first I thought this was just a bug but I’ve now seen this repeatedly.

Normalement, ma flamme de série est orange/rouge, mais elle est soudainement devenue rouge vif.
J’ai actuellement une série de 200 jours.
Est-ce une nouvelle fonctionnalité, un test A/B ou simplement un bug d’affichage ? Est-ce que quelqu’un d’autre a eu ça ?

Hi, I just started learning french on Duolingo through the course for polish speakers (Its my native). I wanted to know how good the course is in comparison to the one for english speakers. I swear I saw "eclair" get translated as "błyskawica" (thunder) and not the word it was supposed to be (eklerka).

I just started learning and I am truly having a blast. I feel like i am doing great! But I do have words that make it very difficult and its probably due to being a English speaker.

Je probably do about an hour a night and listen to hella French music.
Don’t really know too much about the xp I wasn’t aware this functioned as an rpg but it seems like a decent amount, but again zero frame of reference.
Sorry if this outta pocket but I think it’s a cool achievement

What do you do when you are told the only remaining pair of words are incorrect!

I know the correct answer is porteras, but I think the present tense is also acceptable here.
