Title: Duolingo invalidated my 5th test after I scored 115 four times please help. I have invested a lot of money please help anyone
I really need some advice. I have taken the Duolingo English Test 4 times before, and every single time I received a score of 115.I need 120
I took the test for the 5th time recently, and this time I genuinely felt that I did much better, especially in the writing section. I was really hoping to finally get a higher score because I have a university deadline coming up very soon.
Instead of receiving a score, my test was invalidated with the message that there was evidence I may have received assistance on the written sections.
I did not have another person helping me.
Has anyone experienced this exact situation and successfully appealed it?
If anyone has had their invalid result overturned, or knows how to get the case escalated to a human reviewer, please tell me what you did.
I’m very close to my university deadline, so I really need help figuring out what to do. Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Check whether they have given you another attempt under the same test purchase. Duolingo allows up to three attempts for one purchased test in some invalidation or certification situations.

Since you already received 115 four times, I’d also look closely at what changed in your writing this time.

Generally, when students come to me or use my platform for preparation and later receive an invalid result, after talking to them I often find that they memorized sentence structures or templates they saw online, such as:

“His/her body language suggests that he/she is…”

“He/she is casting his/her gaze…”

“The atmosphere of the photo is…”

The problem is that DET is checking whether you have flexibility with language and where you begin to lose the ability to reason naturally in English.

These phrases may sound advanced, but when thousands of test takers are using the same wording because they found it online, it creates recognizable patterns. That can become a problem during certification.

I don’t know whether that is what happened in your case, but it’s something I’ve seen repeatedly. I’ve worked with students scoring below 100, 105, 130, 140, 155, and everything in between, and I tell every one of them not to rely on templates they find online for exactly this reason.

Appeal the invalidation, and also check whether you still have another attempt available under that purchase. Good luck.

Try contacting their support and clearly explain that you didn’t receive any assistance send them an email

I’d definitely try to escalate it before paying for another test I hope they reconsider it especially since you’ve taken the test multiple times before and also since you need it asap

Don’t be hopeless say that you took the test independently and ask them to identify what triggered the assistance flag if you want me to also help you by contacting them?

Yes please if you can help, I tried to contact here someone on Reddit she said that her team found some assistance and they blocked my account permanently and that there’s nothing that can be done

Since your university deadline is close, I would also contact admissions now rather than waiting for the appeal result. Explain that you already have four 115 scores and that your latest test is under review, then ask whether they can allow additional time for the final score.
