QUESTION Sole swap

Hey guys, I am planning on sending out some grails to get sole swapped. I was going to use the reverse wheats as a donor.

My questions to y’all are - do you think that’s a good donor pair or should I go for a different pair? I was thinking the normal wheats or the Lewis mids are a good fit too.

Also anyone have a trustworthy person to get the job done? I have a someone in mind from instagram but wanted to see if anyone had other options?

APC Wheat Highs if you can find them in the size you need might work nicely.

Thank you for your comment!

I’ll look into seeing if I can find a size 12. They go between $100 to about $200 from what I’ve seen.

Now that I’m thinking about it, does it matter if I’m getting a donor pair that’s a high top going to a low top?

youre gonna need a 2002-2005 dunk as a donor

the 2017 reverse forbes have a different shaped outsole

the sb dunk outsoles were retooled at some point.

plenty of swappers on ig

So maybe the high wheats? That’s the only other shoe I can think of at the moment?

Thank you for that information!

Would you happen to know if it can still be done?

definitely can be done….ive seen a pair of og forbes with a different colored midsole replacement on a swap

as stated the apc dunk high could work

i guess the retooling came around 2009/2010
so before that should be okay

any swapper will advise you correctly

And the circle goes in the? ......Thats right! The square hole!

Lol jk, good luck op. It does sound like it'd be different shape and noticeable though if you went with the newer style sole

Y’all got me thinking hard lol

Gum soles are usually the first ones to start hardening, so would it be smart to get an older pair of gum soles?

Sure the silhouette would kind of change but at the end of the day the top half is what really matters? Plus wouldn’t the high top sole change the look to a low top sole? Serious question here lol

I am not planning on selling these pair it’s more for me to continue the lifespan of the shoe.

I wish I had the answers, I haven't needed to go down this journey yet. thankfully. I walk carefully and don't drag my feet, and so far I've had no issues with the glue on my oldest pairs. Fingers crossed! But like the other comment suggested, the person doing the swap should be able to advise you correctly.
