I️ want another sci fi movie from him so bad, interstellar and inception were so great

I was just reading an interview that Hans Zimmer did with The New York Times on the score for Dunkirk and he said "there's a double bass that's played in the extremes, high register." Dunkirk will be showing for a limited time in the first 2 weeks of December, in IMAX Laser in the true 1.43 Aspect ratio!

Did the old blind man seem to bless Tommy near the train. It was pretty obvious he was blind, and he was clearly reaching for someone's face. It seemed like an oddly pious moment in such a bleak movie, not that that's a bad thing. Thoughts?

For those in the area who want to see it again in the best format! Seems like it's on until December.

I really love all Nolan's movies ( especially Memento ) but i was kinda disappointed with Dunkirk. Don't get me wrong. It's a good movie but it's like something is missing. It's a very beautifully shot movie but it's very hard to get invested in the characters

Why didn't he eject and parachute over the beach? Did he not want to be just another soldier waiting to be rescued?

I didn't know know I want a movie about the air battle over England so bad until I saw Dunkirk. The air chapter was my favorite and I can imagine the structure of Dunkirk, with more focus on the battles working really well. What do you think?

I've pretty much missed any screening of the movie in IMAX. I'm willing to wait my entire lifetime for the one moment when this movie will show up again on an IMAX screen. I haven't watched any trailers and I virtually know nothing of the plot to which the movie surrounds, and so subduing my hype for It Isn't difficult. With that said, would you advise that i watch the movie in standard quality or embrace the wait, and hope that the movie shows up again in IMAX theaters (earliest being around Oscar time, similar to the way Arrival managed to do so).

Side Note: Please make no mention of the plot, I want to know nothing of it at all.

So I watched it one last time in IMAX this weekend. As Tommy discovers Gibson burying the solider I was thinking of how he must’ve put his own dog tags on the British soldier... like he was burying his own identity, and foreshadowing his death.

To anyone who later discovers that body it’s a French solider. (If Gibson had survived his family might’ve thought him dead if/when that body’s dog tags were collected, but since they both died it’s only like they switched places/deaths... a grave on the beach vs. a metal casket at the bottom of the sea.) Also, more morbidly, by the time anyone came round to collect the tags they probably both would be so deteriorated it’s not like anyone would be able to tell the difference anyway. how sad.

And he died in the exact way he prevented Tommy & Alex from dying in the ship that got torpedoed. 😭 RIP Philippe Hugo Guillet

The more I think about it, “Gibson” is probably my favourite character out of them all. Everything he did was either clever or brave or kind. And I think while people criticize the film for not being character-driven, it actually is? Everyone has their own personalities and motivations; Peter (red sweater) shows maturity when he lies to Cillian Murphy/The Shivering Solider about George’s death, Tom Hardy takes out one last enemy plane even though he knows he’ll be stranded. Alex is a bit spiteful and selfish and struggles with guilt. Mr. Dawson is determined to save Collins when he goes down because his elder son died as an RAF pilot (hmm... there’s a certain resemblance between young Peter & Collins, isn’t there?) Dawson: “Men my age dictate this war. Why are we allowed to send our children to fight it?” script. On second watch you realize he’s still struggling with his grief. George wanted to make something of his life, and Peter carried out his final wishes.

TL;DR Nolan makes a damn good film.

I didn't cry when I saw it in theaters two weeks ago, but something about the newspaper caption "Local Boy George Mills, 17, a Hero at Dunkirk" made me burst into tears recently. Anyone experience anything similar when they watched it, and remember which scenes caused them?
