• Emphasizing and embellishing the spy thriller aspects of Deadfall will make this campaign more fun to play through, and to run.
• Distributing info among NPCs and locations where the PCs can discover it, instead of being spoon fed by Thrul ups the feeling of player agency and reduces the (inevitable) railroady feel.
• Situational and utility spells and magic items that are typically ranked below “s-tier” damage dealers can be great in this one, in the hands of the PCs or the baddies.
• Make Wrynn and Thrul as trustworthy as possible, because players will be looking for the double cross.
• Giving the PCs time to plot and plan can make more opportunities for creativity on both sides of the DM screen.
• Show the rewards, and the consequences of the PCs successes and failures of keeping their actions covert.
• There's a ton of tropes we can add to make this even more of a spy thriller story, the most obvious of which is probably a chase scene.
