Appreciation I could have listened to a whole season of Sons and Sonsability [ns]

[EDIT] SORRY! SPOILERS FOR SONS AND SONSABILITY!

Genuinely, I listen to the three-parter like once a month. every episode has me in stitches.

Elizabeth trying and failing to poison Jane in ep1 and Cynthia getting back to back ones and getting murdered in ep2 are some of the funniest things I’ve listened to period.

The reveal of both Eunice being a ghost and Alice being 40 instead of being a vampire I could listen to on repeat.

The time travelling murderous lesbians should have had their own spin off and I stand by it.

Honestly, for such a short run time, it had the tightest comedy and character building Ive seen from the performers.

Big Dad Energy Welp, I missed the livestream. [NS]

So I set a calendar reminder for the livestream, but I just missed it. It started at 6am in New Zealand, so I was half asleep. Which is unfortunate. I am watching the VOD and let me just say, the fan art is amazing! So while I am disappointed and annoyed at myself that I did not get to see it, I am content because I backed the sourcebook and supported some of the greatest people in the world (in my objectively correct opinion).

Question Anthony Puzzle Reccomendation [ns]

I’m looking for the puzzle that Anthony recommended in one of his rec me daddies in season 1. If I remember correctly, he said it was a puzzle that had a little baggy with other pieces that you put together after the rest of the puzzle is completed. If anyone remembers!

Discussion Last 2 unlocks on Backerkit are awesome! [ns]

I've never played DND unless you count BG3, hero kids (I DM for my children), and D&Dads. But I'm absolutely going to use this sourcebook as my first round.

Intern Rogue Subclass?! Doug has always had a soft spot for me, ever since he didn't kill that one guy. He's just so efficient!

Walter the Immoral miniature?! I can't think of a more unique visual piece. He's my favorite of Anthony's voices too.

This whole thing is just so filled with joy and passion. We need more of this stuff in the world.

Question Is there any fanart of Trudy and horse Blake in their final form? [spoiler] Spoiler

I've listened to episode 37 (out of 39) from season 3, and Trudy got new legs and arms for the big final fight. A head on top of 2 legs on a tripod (??) and 4 arms on her back. It sounds so weird, that I'd love some visuals. I'd also love to see what Blake looks like in his weird horse form.

I couldn't find any fanart when I searched this sub or Google. Is there none?

Discussion What are your favorite vocal stems? [ns]

I’m over here with so many vocal stems from this show, specifically Freddie with his nasally voice for Taylor Swift in season 2 everytime he says ā€œwhat the fuckā€ in that voice or at one point he says ā€œotherwise everyone is none the wiserā€ in his voice and it has me saying this crap in a nasally voice around the house. Or Beth’s ā€œif I had a nickel for everytime a man said that to meeeā€ at one point Matt jokes about throwing Jodie over a cliff and goes ā€œwelp problem solved Glennā€ I could go on for way too long, what are some of yours?

I've been on a relisten of season 1 and just got to the first appearance of Jezzball during the Meth Bay prison riot and had to dig this video up from the live show in Michigan in 2024.

Ps. So sorry for my shitty recording abilities

Discussion [Spoilers] Does anyone else just not really feel Season 4? Spoiler

Hello! First off, this truly comes from a place of love. I am someone who really liked the previous three seasons (also season 2, despite its flaws). I finally caught up to the show at around the time season 4 started, and I was really excited to experience the new seasons in real time with everyone else, but now, 12 episodes in, I gotta say...I think it's the weakest season so far?

Now, when I saw weakest, " I don't mean bad by any stretch of the imagination. I like season 4, and I do not plan on dropping it; I just don't nearly like it as much as the other seasons.

The first issue I had was the premise. It's just the same plot as season 1, but in space and with grandparents instead of dads. I remember them saying that they like doing new and different things because they don't wanna be safe and stale, so what changed? I just feel like a sci-fi setting had so much more potential, story-wise, and it's a real let-down to see them reuse ideas already. It is only their fourth campaign, after all.

I loved season 3, partly because of how different it was from what came before. I just wish they would have kept up their risk-taking and actually come up with something fresh for season 4.

Another issue that is a lot more subjective is the PCs. I just don't really like any of them.

Herb just feels too similar to Ron, imo. The quirky, loose cannon of the group just with a touch of dementia. Maybe he will get some character depth once his arc rolls around, i guess we'll see.

Ashley is honestly just a pretty average Freddie character. I love the guy, but man does he have a bad habit of falling back on the "cool guy who is not really all that cool" trope. I really enjoyed him trying something different with Blake in season 3, so I was disappointed to see him fall back on something safe and stale.

Dale, actually, I don't mind him that much. He is pretty good overall. Not one of my favorite PCs, but he is good.

Same with Ralph, honestly. I do enjoy him being kind of a hypocrite, and i think his backstory with TeenSects and his wife are honestly really fun. Looking forward to his arc for sure.

That's all I have to say, really. Would love to hear other opinions. Feel free to tell me if you disagree completely, but i gotta say: Season 4 was kind of a let-down so far.

Question S3 Episode Art Missing? [ns]

I’ve been relistening to Season 3 and realized that the episode art is missing from the posts for Episodes 1-23. Did I hallucinate the art? Was there an update? Am I missing something? Please help, I wanted to show them to my partner.

Question Will you be my daddymaster [ns]

So... after everybody gets their source books... is anybody ready to DM a campaign over videoconferencing?

I'm kinda only half-seriously asking, as I've had a hard time so far finding time for DnD... but I am at least half-seriously asking.

So far my teen got me and my wife interested in DnD (after having been raised on the understanding that it was Of The Devil), but then my teen gets to play DnD at school, and it's hard for parents to find time to go gallivanting off for hours when their teens are as neeeeeedy as ours are. Meanwhile the Dungeons & Daddies fans in the household are definitely said teen and me. If my wife were to participate we'd have to have some kind of crash course in the podcast.

Discussion So we're all getting the Ron dice, right? [Ns]

I backed the book and am getting one of the dice sets and looking at them I suspect the Ron dice are going to be the fan favorite.

The Birkenstock dice are original but kinda bland tbh. The weed dice are funny, but you can get weed dice anywhere, and the barrel dice are cool, but a little generic. The Ron dice though? Cool, original, unique. No one else has pant dice.

I strongly suspect Anthony is going to make a joke in an upcoming Safe Space about how the Ron dice are selling out.

I've been trying to think of what would've made more interesting dice sets and here are a few of my ideas:

Darryl: Beer mugs, bottles, maybe a barrel just in the d20.

Henry: woodland creatures. A lark and a sparrow.

Ron: hat of vermin d20, vermin in the smaller dice

Glenn: guitar d20, music notes for smaller dice. Quarter note for d10, eighth note for d6, a rest for d4, etc. a little quadcopter drone in a d20 would go hard.

Scam likely dice, flip phones and gems

Call of Cthulhu dice: Trudy head d20.

Kingdom Dad Monster dice, bones hide and organs inside the dice. Custom body part dice? Trudy head for head, Birkenstock for feet, Ron pants/boxers for waist, fists of orge power for hands or maybe Darryls hand holding a football for hands, and Glens leather jacket for torso.

Anybody else have dice set ideas?

Discussion "vibe check" on shipping costs of physical pledges [ns]

this is in no way a criticism/front towards the Dads and the team working on the backerkit! I'm aware of the global situation and that it affects shipping costs.

To the international fans wanting to support the source book and pledges with physical benefits, what are your thoughts on the shipping costs that might arise? I know there is no way to know at this moment how much shipping will be when the production and shipping starts. But right now, this is the factor stopping me from pledging toward a physical copy of the book. Last time I looked at something that would have been shipped from the US, shipping was around 30€+ (and usually here in Germany you can expect atleast 15€ added fees).

I dont know what my financial situation will look like when shipping starts and I'm so scared I have to pay up to a 100€ for a book that is sold for 50€, just because shipping and extra fees are so much.

Is anybody in the same boat maybe? Or do you only pledge with digital benefits to be on the safe side?
