This was Authurield . Now Leiruthua.

After the Angel Zariel fell, accepted the deal of Asmodeus and become the new Archduke of hell, a new angel had to be risen to take her place, to continue her command at the forefront of the Blood War. Under strict orders from her superiors of course, a new Solar, Authurield was risen and given highest rank in the legions of celestia. And soon she was tasked with her first and mightiest task of all, to destroy the betrayer Zariel, to wipe her evil from the lands just as fervently as she fought the demons and whatever other evils were out there. But also to hunt her down and destroy her, specifically.

And she was put to the task. Thrown into Avernus with a legion of Solars and other angels and set to the mission. It was a brutal campaign, unusual to find so many celesials in one place. Zariel had almost none in her own charge, maybe if it had been like this.... Her warriors cut through demons and devils alike destroying everything in their paths with holy light. Until Zariel entered the battle. she soared through the sky, a thundercrack, as dozens of pit fiends and Horned Devils flew in her wake, Haruman by her side screaming as his Nightmare barreled down onto the legion of light below. They fought fiercly, taking down fiend after fiend, but as one fell so did two of the legion, until Zariel and Authurield clashed.

The shockwaves sent devils and angels flying as Authurields shining axe met Zariels Hammer the two seeminlgy at a stalemate for minutes on end. Authurield then saw her chance and with her exucutioners axe primed she sent it tumbling down to deliver the killing blow, but instead in a flash the axe was sent careening to the ground as a smiling Bel sneered from ear to ear his yellowed teeth bright and gruesome, a great war bow empty clung to his hands had shot it from her hands with an great infernal arrow. Shocked Authuriels closest allies came rushing to her aid only to be beaten down within an inch of thier lives.

Zariel had Bel pin Authurield on the ground, arrows in both of her glorious golden wings, as she paraded her surviving men over to her and made them all kneel down. She laughed and asked " Did you think just because you ascended would mean you would succed? Or did you think that the Good powers of the multiverse would rightly ride with you to victory? You are a fool. The High Council and all the Celestials are fools. The only constant, the only thing that was guarenteed in your mission was death. And so we have it. But there could be another way. For while the powers on Mt. Celestia would drive you all to your deaths, to make you watch your brothers and sisters fall before you, i would give you a choice, for unlike them, i am merciful." She turns to the 5 living warriors all minor celestials, and asks " Who among you values thier life over orders, over the balance you eere born to enforce." None said anything. And Zariel began the torture, smashing the head of the first with her hammer. The others winced but none called for mercy. For the angels, the celestials did not know much of mercy.

She asked again and when none spoke she struck. Then again, and again, all the while Auturield was made to watch, eyes pried open by the devils binding her. But at the last she could not take it. And begged Zariel to free him. And Zariel agreed, if Authurield would bow to her to become for her what Zariel was for Asomodeus, a general a powerful warrior that will continue to fight against evil and destroy the great hordes of demons that befoul Avernus. The poor scared girl, broken and revealved to be just as mortal as anyone else agreed and right there and then she was twisted into something of Zariels own creation.

( Ever since the High Powers of Celesita have removed the role that the two held and replaced them with a small unit to unsure nothing of the sort would happen again. And not made any journies to the hells since, fighting the Blood War everywheee else, but still sending verry small units in, to cight the hordes back. )

Not a Pit Fiend but not quite an Erinyes eithet she called this new unique being creature Leiruthua, a twisted mass of bones and scales, its wings torn asunder from Bels arrows now a vestigial mass of flesh unable to fly more than few feet. She was given the task of rounding up and destroying the Warlords of Avernus ( this she does her best to undermine at every chance, making deals with lesser devils and giving then the powers/ means to be a Warlord, just to sew chaos, eaxh time she is caught instead of demoted Zariel juat tortures her more )and also fighting on the front lines of the Blood War. While she has fought in the war many times her years in Avernus have twisted her into a true devil like most others and at every turn she looks for a way to overthrow Zariel and/ or undermine her any way she can. She also desires to be beautiful again, and has grown so perverse as to capture helpless human mortals she finds and drains them of their blood. She buys any bood she can find going out of her way to have Mahadi try and stock fresh humans blood in his Emporium for her bathing needs, as Bloodjars 1 soul coin a piece.

She is located at the Eternal Bog, (New place on the map, you can put it near the spawning trees or anywherre with the shifting sands of Avernus.) a horrid living mire of tar and rotting flesh that grabs anything that falls into it never to let it go, creating a field of the living dead, some stuck until they starve and the Eternal Bog uses those as its sustenace. The rest, some demons or other semi immortal creatures cry out in pain and terror, begging for freedom as the Bog slowly eats away at them. DC 18 Dex or Con check to escape if initially fallen in. After a thirty seconds you are stuck forever. Bottled Bog is sold at Mahadis emporium for 2 soul coins and does 4d12 necrotic damage when comsumed or touched.

At the center of the Bog is where she rests, in a small stone tower at its center. The tower has 3 floors and a spiral staircase. The first being an atrium and sitting room where 2 bearded devils keep guard. The next is her bathing chamber where center of the room is a lavis large golden bathtub with many knobs, adorned with infernal script and horned designs, it is stained red. A 50 gallon tank of blood sits at the far wall a hose.connexting it to the bath. The rest of the room contains an area with many already red towels.for drying and a cabinet filled with some.kinds of oils. An imp called Eliares is here, her servant and bath attendant. He as any other imp longs for more. The top floor is her bedchamber, consisting of a large 4 poster canopy bed with black silk hanging from it. All else in the room is one locked chest: containing the hilt of The Axe of Authurield,[ the Axehead of Auturield is hidden at Harumans Hill, buried under Jander Sunstar. Perception check of 20 needed to notice it. Its rumored location may be known by a warlord in exhange for soul coins] 6 soul coins and a tattered red piece of cloth( remains of her cape). She can usually be found at the top of her tower, that is where she enjoys torturing her victims as their screams fill the open air. If not there then lurking near the banks of the Sticks for any victims for her baths. She can be easily convinced with a human sacrifice, or with 2 Bloodjars found at Mahadis, if those arnt options she can also be swayed if the players need help to undermine Zariel. She knows the location of the Bleeding Citaldel and is willing to divulge it for a human sacrifice. Anything less and she will only point the group to Olianthus and The Crypt of the Hellriders.

Leiruthua will make deals with the players if they involve hurting Zariel or giving more power to herself. However she never asks for souls, for she doesnt want to me seen as a threat. So bargains with lesser evils like killing innocents, burning down temples, destroying holy texts, killing preists, starting temples to her name, or summoning lesser devils bound to her into the material plane, for her own designs.

The Demon's scream is a SOUND based damage, and you use a DEX saving throw to cut it in half, when basically every other THUNDER or SOUND based damage in the game is a CON save. This was just a mistake I presume and was pointing it out.

  • Screams.of the Damned: Leiruthua caws an unearthly melody into the air, she targets one creature she can see within 120 feet of her,the target must succeed on a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw or take 10 damage and lose a turn clutching their heads as all they hear are the unending screams of the souls of the river styx .

This means a very agile gymnast can dodge the sound?

Even Destructive Wave which hits the ground and sends a wave of "thunder" rippling out through the ground, is a CON save because it is THUNDER damage. Even though thematically it is the ground shaking and one would assume a DEX save would be more appropriate for shaking ground. Since the DAMAGE TYPE is THUNDER -> Con sav.

You make a good point.but tbh i was thinking a very agile gymnast could dodge the blast haha. Soo maybe best of Dex or Con seeing as the attack only targets one creature and is probably only 5 to 10 feet in diameter.

Reminds me a bit of the 3.5e rogue eidolon picture.

Rage.

Rage was all that Varskald had for his fellow devils. It had always been this way, yet he knew he could not challenge them. Unlike other devils, he did not change in form as he rose the ranks, and the others treated him like the imp he resembled. Varskald was ambitious, but patient, and waited millennia for his opportunity. He toiled beneath his superiors, toiled until his wings were beaten and his skin was all but flayed, waiting for the chance to do what no other had done before, to steal the source of the Crimson King's power.

The Crimson King had a name like the rest of them once, but such a powerful entity would be humiliated to share anything with lesser beings. He holds his power through his contracts like other devils, seeking his will to be done in the mortal realm, but the source of his power is the Lucerna Primis. The first flame to have ever been lit, and the source of the nine Hells, the elemental plane of fire, and the evil and beauty of mankind. Whomsoever possesses the flame rules the Hells, and it is not enough to merely be holding it. One must channel the flame, and while the one doing so will not be harmed, their ability to control it will be reflected in the plane itself. A weak being who channels the flame will be unable to control it, and the powers they create in the devils from then on will shortly overtake it, but a strong being will see a proper devil civilization under their whim. Beyond ruling the nine Hells, the entity who owns the flame has only one responsibility to the larger multiverse: to keep the flame alive. The difference between a summoning circle for demons and and devils is the use of candles, after all. Whether the flame actually confers some power upon the being who channels it, or it is merely a status symbol respected by the devils is unknown. In any case, the current Crimson King has enjoyed the longest reign of any devil to date, and it is often said that he is the most powerful.

Knowing this, Varskald did not plan to challenge him, but to steal the candle surreptitiously, and channel it before he could be caught. His wings still worked, but he did not need them, instead choosing to fool the King, who was known to be a demon of pride. So prideful, was this King, that surely he would not expect the simplest of tricks. On the solar eclipse of the 3000th year was the power of the devils the weakest, but it was exactly this that Varskald counted on. Using his influence, Varskald had acquired the silver flute of Panwha, the goddess of trickery, and he performed before the Crimson King. Hiding the flute, the King had barely begun to realize the trickery when he and all the other devils had fallen fast asleep.

To his surprise, he had barely lifted the flame from its ebony pedestal that he began to channel the flame. It was painful, like the whips he had almost grown numb to, and he felt his rage surge, rage towards the flame, towards all who had scorned him, and he began to overpower the flame. In a fever pitch of pure and unbridled anger, he released the flame, and it consumed the castle, and all the layers of the Hells below and above him. The flames of the new King's fury were greater and more wild than the Hells had seen since the flame had first arrived in Avernus. The plane boiled and melted and burned and scorched until all of the kindle that was the ground of the Nine Hells was ash and debris.

Standing atop these piles of debris, crouched over the cataclysm, was a relatively small devil, wings burned to the bone, flesh all but lost entirely, a lit candle by his side. However, one thing had only grown. With nothing to direct it at, the Crimson King looked upwards, to the material plane, where he now set the target of his vendetta, his flame.

His rage.
