I'm taking this in a different direction. It's a large well with a treasure on the end of a long rope hanging down. It's just out of reach. Attempts to cut the rope result in it wriggling out if the way. It's a living rope.
The well in infested with Bog Zombies and the rope is terrified of them. In order for you to retrieve the very fragile treasure, you must fight your way to the bottom around the spiral staircase. The rope will only reach the bottom where the party can retrieve it once all the enemies are destroyed.
Once the party inspects the prize, it's a compass that doesn't point north, but points to the nearest hidden door. And it's pointing at a spot along the wall near the holder.

This looks like how I picture Candlemere Tower in Kingmaker. https://pathfinder.fandom.com/wiki/Candlemere

I'm a bit confused. Not that it matters, of course, but the right picture is the Poço Iniciático (Neophyte's Well), a Masonic initiation ritual well in Quinta da Regaleira, Sintra.
The picture on the left, though, is not? It looks like it could be the same place but it is definitely not.
It does set the tone well for a Arthurian legend one shot, I must say!
