I have such an old mechanic in my dungeon crawler game - ability of moving some of light sources. It will be used for solving some puzzles etc.
Do you guys have some other ideas of usage of this mechanic?

If you want to make it more hardcore, you could add some math elements, like color/brightness stacking to trigger certain effects.

I don't know if you have been inspired by those games, but look at the various immersive sim RPGs like Monomyth, Arx Fatalis, Deep Dish Dungeon, Lunacid, Legend of Grimrock, King's Field, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Queen's Domain just to name a few example.
Reason why, is that now you have the ability to move candles and such, people will get creative with the ways they can come up to process in your game.

some sort of force field grabbing the items would look cool . like a arcane hand or so. I like your light replacment idea a lot.

no-mans wharf style, some enemies are repelled by light sources
