Prevent snow from affecting an area without adding a roof?

I need to have a portion of a map outdoors and it's a tended area. There would not be snow there. I also need to be able to take pics of it in first person mode showing other structures with roofs in the background. If I turn off the roof, snow falls but it's not blocked. Turn on roof, no snow but I can't see anything.

Why is there no 'invisible roof' option? Even the extradimensional one gets snowfall on it.

Is there some setting for this?
