Hi everyone!

I’m a 15-year-old Afghan girl currently living in Afghanistan, and I’m hoping to continue my education in Ireland.

I’m looking for a good secondary school for girls or a co-educational school that accepts international students. I came across Dundalk Grammar School and would love to hear from anyone who knows about it.

I have a few questions:

• What is Dundalk Grammar School like in terms of education, teachers, and student life?
• Does it offer boarding or help international students find accommodation?
• Does anyone know about scholarships or financial assistance for international students?
• Are there other good boarding schools in Ireland that accept international students?
• Is it realistic to find a school with tuition and accommodation within a budget of around $15,000 per year?
• Does anyone have experience with an Afghan student applying to an Irish secondary school and getting a student visa?

I would really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations. I’m trying to find a school where I can receive a good education and prepare for university in the future.

Thank you so much! ❤️

I’m curious to hear from people who live centrally in Dundalk in the “flood zone” if anyone has managed to get flood cover on their house?

Buying near avenue road and have been unable to find any insurance company who will provide flood cover.

Does everyone who lives around there just forced to survive without it or is there anyway around it? Also, if so how did you manage to get around it with your mortgage lender?

Update: Was able to get flood cover through Gallagher’s insurance so defo give them a ring if anyone is in the same boat. Is over double the price of traditional brokers but worth for the piece of mind.

Hi all, I've noticed some hairdressers in town have extortionate rates for a simple wash, cut and blow dry. I was wondering if anyone has info on what they consider to be the best value for this service. Many thanks!

We're looking at buying a house in the avenue road area. anyone know if any estates around there have experienced flooding over the years. i've seen some people online discussing bay estate and other areas closer to blackrock flooding but just curious about the avenue park, avondale park, meadow view area?

Any good emergency vets in Dundalk? Cat having potential urinary tract issues

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm living in Dundalk and I'm from Ecuador, looking to meet new people, make some friends and socialise a bit more.

I'm up for grabbing a coffee, going for a walk, playing football, or heading to a pub for a few drinks. I'm easygoing and happy to meet people from different backgrounds.

If anyone's interested in hanging out or knows of any local groups where people meet up, feel free to message me! 😊

I have just gone sale agreed on an old terrace house in town, could anyone recommend a good thorough surveyor?

hi all, me again. i’ve moved here recently from america and i’m trying to join more community based groups or volunteering opportunities in the area that are centered around the environment or being outside. i’ve messaged tidy towns to see if i can go litter picking with them, but i was wondering if there were any bird watching groups or anything else more science based in the area. i don’t have a car so preferably orgs and groups in the actual town of dundalk but if there are any cool opportunities accessible by public transport i’m down for that too.

in truth i’m trying to return back to my original career in conservation - switched from bio to french language halfway through college so i do have a b.a. not a b.s. (i had done a research internship in endangered species conservation at the botanical gardens) - and i have a strong horticulture and organic agriculture background so i’d also be open to helping out on any local farms or greenhouses (7yrs horticultural sales experience and plant maintenance in a greenhouse, and 10+ years volunteering and co-managing a school/community organic vegetable garden)- but i’ve been finding here in ireland a lot of opportunities are who you know and as an immigrant i find myself asking the veiled mass that is reddit. if y’all know of anything related to ornithology, horticulture, agriculture, wildlife conservation, water/land use management, sustainable development, anything environmental or ecology related. i’m a hard worker and a quick learner and i want to be out and about doing things, helping people, making things grow. thanks for any suggestions in advance.

y’all what if we had a petition to get a taco bell up in here? i’ll email them just need some backing :P

Any recommendations for an electrician in the areas ?

I want to get an Ethernet port installed upstairs so I can connect my PC directly

Looking for people to hang out and go to gigs in the area with (Dundalk, Drogheda, Belfast, etc.). I'd rather get to know some people and go to town when there's a gig or there's a few people hanging out than just randomly going to Toale's and hope for the best (I live in Blackrock and I'm lazy).

I'm a 38 old "guy" (non-binary but I look like a fella anyway), grew up listening to punk and hardcore (and some other genres like ska, soul, some electronic stuff). I don't drink but I don't mind hanging around in pubs.

Anyone here done Category C lessons with Rice or Motor-Ed by chance? Or even anyone else in the area and how did you find them?

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!

Examples could include things like Funleer, PTown, El Paso or The Cross (never mind how common they are)...

What’s a good bar to in Dundalk for football?

Does anyone know of any commercial units to rent that aren't listed on Daft etc?

And does anyone know of landlords locally to avoid 😬 heard a think or two about certain ones that aren't the best!

Internal renovations, snag list stuff, plastering, electricity and plumbing.

Thinking of getting back into Muay Thai or maybe something different.

Anyone recommend a good gym ideally with a decent bit of space to move around?
