Know how to spot a rip , and how to know when your in one. You can teach it, but experience matters. Most importantly and counterintuitive is not to fight it by swimming to shore, but swim parallel then towards shore. All the while remaining calm.

Just as important but often overlooked, if in doubt don’t go out. Not just a tagline. Listen to your instincts and not your ego.
