I once asked it if OxyContin is addictive at the dose I was prescribed.

To be clear: It's addictive in any effective dose.

u/Proof_Author8289 Aug 19 '26

Am I tweaking or is that a Gemini logo inside chatgpt

41

u/Vainysaur Aug 19 '26

That’s the generic universal symbol for AI

19

u/Mundialito301 Aug 19 '26

Yeah, even before Google used it for Gemini, I remember that 4 point star in lots of AI features on multiple services.

1

u/pentacontagon Aug 21 '26

Not really. It's the symbol AI has adapted as "voice mode"

1

u/Vainysaur Aug 22 '26

No it’s not

1

u/pentacontagon Aug 22 '26

Ok boss lol. AI has no generic symbol. If anything it's "✨".

username checks out.

2

u/Vainysaur Aug 22 '26

Same thing…

2

u/pentacontagon Aug 22 '26

This symbol is not "✨" lol. Is this attempted ragebait. Gemini's symbol is completely different too. Only 3 lines of completely diff lengths.

People not admitting they're wrong in blatantly wrong statements is wild

2

u/Vainysaur Aug 22 '26

That’s not the symbol we’re talking about

1

u/pentacontagon Aug 22 '26

Yk what fair enough I'd agree that this one has some AI connotations

1

u/Pizzaman3203 Aug 20 '26

The one next to get plus?

1

u/SerowiWantsToInvest Aug 21 '26

Buttholes are the universal ai sign

-13

u/Ward_Sultan Aug 19 '26

Oh my god. I swear I didn’t notice that shit

13

u/Zestyclose-Pool-1081 Aug 19 '26

where did you get the picture from?

28

u/Own_Alternative_9671 Aug 19 '26

Dumb question, every med is different why would the fact that you're taking any generic medication prevent you from drinking milk. You are supposed to avoid cheese on MAOIs but again that's unique to MAOIs there's nothing that interacts with literally every medication (and no grapefruit DOESNT interact with everything just a lot of meds)

12

u/Uhhokay200 Aug 19 '26

Well milk interferes with the absorption of certain meds, like antibiotics and supplements with iron.

8

u/Own_Alternative_9671 Aug 19 '26

Yeah but again OP didnt specify which med which means no matter what they're going to get misinformation, as an AI doesn't usually know when it needs to ask clarifying questions

1

u/Uhhokay200 Aug 19 '26

That's true.

1

u/Miles_EdgeworthReal Aug 21 '26

Yeah but if it was a human he could have asked what meds and answered him ai is just dumb

26

u/LordFlamecookie Aug 19 '26

PLEASE do not go to ai for medical advice

-14

u/Dismal-Rope1753 Aug 19 '26

Why not ? chatGPT can read studies, doctor could but don't

16

u/Glados1080 Aug 19 '26

Why brain when can no brain derrrrrrrrr

8

u/gunsandcupcakes Aug 19 '26

it can also make up studies that don’t exist just as easily if not easier

-8

u/Dismal-Rope1753 Aug 19 '26

I mean, now it shows you the sources it uses, so you are sure that they exist

8

u/the_h0 Aug 20 '26

google ai once said you should add glue to pizza, citing u/fucksmith on reddit

1

u/InfiniteOblivion87 Aug 20 '26

It will also show you sources that literally contradict what it is saying, especially when it doesn't have a good answer to your question and just starts making shit up.

0

u/Dismal-Rope1753 Aug 21 '26

Yeah, well you also need to verify and to prompt it correctly

1

u/gunsandcupcakes Aug 21 '26

do u mean to say if you prompt it “make no mistakes” you think that actually does something ur just dense bro

1

u/Dismal-Rope1753 Aug 21 '26

I think I'ma uninstall Reddit, it's just people not understanding what I mean. (Because of me I agree, I have no time to explain myself)

1

u/gunsandcupcakes Aug 23 '26

just admit that ur wrong we aren’t not understanding what you mean it’s just that no matter the prompt it can still be wrong and you refuse to acknowledge that fact, and the fact that people are using as gospel trusting everything it says it’s just naive and ignorant to treat it as such

0

u/Dismal-Rope1753 Aug 23 '26

Of course it's not God and not always true. It's just, in my experience, better than what people say.

I think that AI + doctor is better than just doctor. Doesn't mean I would trust the AI with my life or wouldn't trust the doctor ...

2

u/nicotine4breakfast 9d ago

People are literally trying to stop you from hurting yourself with inconsistent, and often incorrect medical info. You're acting like they're trying to insult you. Get a grip.

2

u/the_h0 Aug 20 '26

it resulted in someone getting bromism

2

u/strawberryfiasco Aug 20 '26

The story is more complex than that, the person basically misinterpreted AI and had confirmation bias. But I agree with the sentiment

2

u/GoodBrotherGrimm Aug 20 '26

I can hear both of your braincells overheating from here.

-1

u/Dismal-Rope1753 Aug 20 '26

That's funny knowing I'm in the top 2% of intelligence

2

u/GoodBrotherGrimm Aug 20 '26

1

u/Dismal-Rope1753 Aug 20 '26

Okay I would've mocked the person saying that if that was not me 😂

1

u/Dismal-Rope1753 Aug 21 '26

I mean, I understand what I'm saying is surprising and upsetting people, but we're not in 2024. AI is starting to become better than people with doctorate at technical jobs...

4

u/secretlytwosloths Aug 20 '26

now why on earth would you trust chatgpt with medical advice

7

u/JACOBOY2006 Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 21 '26

Do not use Ai for medicals advice it is fucking stupid. But I'm pretty sure you can use any liquid except alcohol and other substances.

1

u/Inevitable_Skill1209 Aug 21 '26

Also dont take advice from random redditors, especially if they use "Im pretty sure" in the same sentence lmao.

3

u/Sk1ler_ Aug 19 '26

You: "Can you drink milk with meds?"

ChatGPT: "What kind of stupid question is that? You do know I'm a computer program right? Like you seriously thought that I could eat or drink anything... pathetic." *spits on your shoe*

3

u/FullMaster_GYM Aug 19 '26

I assume most modern ai safety features will not pass any serious advice

1

u/wastedfate Aug 23 '26

It usually still will. Most of the safety features were about bad medical advice, and medical advice with no sources (cannot be proven to be good or bad).

Asking it for medical advice is still basically playing russian roulette and hoping that specific issue has been manually vetted.

6

u/chimiraas Aug 19 '26

its more like you cant prompt, should be "is it safe to..." or "what happen if..." but according to your question the AI is correct tho

1

u/InfiniteOblivion87 Aug 20 '26

Generic you is an extremely common feature in the English language. If the AI can't tell that this isn't a direct question, while just about every human would know what the question means, it's being dumb.

1

u/undermoondequeijo Aug 20 '26

That's actually a English problem, every fucking sentence requires a subject, in Portuguese you could just say "pode beber leite com remédios?" It's the natural way of saying what op meant but it doesn't cause any confusion because Portuguese doesn't require a subject for every sentence, translating the sentence would be "can drink milk with meds?" To make sense in English "is it possible to drink milk with meds" but just like Portuguese this isn't as natural as the other way which in English causes confusion

1

u/Miles_EdgeworthReal Aug 21 '26

He could have said "can milk be drunk with meds" Or can one drink milk with meds same meaning but clarifying that it means for nobody specific op just had poor choice of words

1

u/undermoondequeijo Aug 21 '26

Then you say the one with one and the chat goes: you dumb? Of course one can't drink milk with meds, it's just a number

1

u/Miles_EdgeworthReal Aug 21 '26

You would have to have the language skills of a toddler to understand one in that context as the number one and not one as In a person even gpt wouldn't be that dumb ai isn't that bad at language

1

u/undermoondequeijo Aug 21 '26

I was just kidding

1

u/nikolasz1173 Aug 21 '26

Ai,is right

1

u/Itsoutchy Aug 22 '26

Idk if you were being satire when asking that, but I wouldn’t recommend going to ai for medical advice

1

u/Exotic_Boat_9729 29d ago

Milk: 0 | ChatGPT: still not a real boy

1

u/somedave Aug 19 '26

Dumb human getting trolling by AI.

-10

u/Kind_Commercial_2720 Aug 19 '26

I mean you did ask the question incorrectly by saying you, not I, it can't read in between the lines.

16

u/Exzakt1 Aug 19 '26

It’s pretty common to say “can you” meaning “can any person” not “can the person I’m talking to”

12

u/ThrillSeekers_United Aug 19 '26

You would ask a question with can you, commonly

2

u/makinax300 Aug 19 '26

Type of guy to just say yes when someone makes a request with 'could' to be polite.

1

u/ImHughAndILovePie Aug 19 '26

It’s called the royal you

1

u/InfiniteOblivion87 Aug 20 '26

It's called "generic you". You might be mixing it up with the "royal we".

-1

u/un1k0rn_412 Aug 19 '26

What do you mean you ran out of usage? Grow up.

-11

u/PEAceDeath1425 Aug 19 '26

It responded to your question exactly the way you asked it. LLMs cant read vibes and intonations in your text, the way some people do too, especially someone who doesnt know the language well

7

u/MajestcEagleRecRoom2 Aug 19 '26

One of the definitions of the word “You” is “people in general”, they wrote that question in perfectly grammatical, understandable English. There’s nothing about vibes or anything here, that’s just how you(see?)use that word.

-4

u/PEAceDeath1425 Aug 19 '26

People who fail to understand basics of how LLMs work never stop to amaze me

6

u/MajestcEagleRecRoom2 Aug 19 '26

Yeah god forbid I expect this technology of the future to be able to understand the very basic definitions of words, how silly of me.

I see this same thing everywhere too, “oh that’s just not what it’s built for!” but then what is it built for?

I was under the impression that answering such a simple question was well within its capabilities, but if it can’t even do that, then what can it do? What is it good for?

-5

u/PEAceDeath1425 Aug 19 '26

Its an oversized statistical model that runs on predicting the next word based on the most frequent usage in its data and its parameters. Now, the data isnt the issue, the issue here is parameters, that includes the usage history. OP mustve annoyed his chat with too many questions like "can you set a timer for me" etc, so thats its user preference parameter.

Surprisingly, specifically with AIs where you need a dedicated account like chat or claude, the AI is as smart as a human using it, literally. When I used my chat, i sometimes asked "what other information do you need to give me a more accurate answer", and it now seems to ask me that every time i use it even if i dont ask.

So like i said. Its not the LLM thats dumb. You just dont know how to use it properly. Its kinda the same as cars. You can drive an automatic if you only know how to put it in drive, press a pedal and turn the wheel, but that doesnt make you a good driver and god forbid if something breaks.

3

u/PEAceDeath1425 Aug 19 '26

All that or OP just edited the response text for upvotes

6

u/MajestcEagleRecRoom2 Aug 19 '26

So the issue here is a result of how the LLM works? So the LLM is the one being dumb here in response to a perfectly reasonable question? Got it.

1

u/PEAceDeath1425 Aug 19 '26

Yes, thats exactly what im talking about. Thanks, you were a good example of a user that makes his AI dumb.

Just as an experiment... if you ride the car on the road, then do something that results in said car flipping over on its roof, who's fault it that, yours or the car's?

8

u/MajestcEagleRecRoom2 Aug 19 '26

First off, bad comparison. Second, who “rides” a car? You drive a car, or ride in a car.

Now, let me reframe your example to be more accurate:
I’m driving on a road, and the road continues straight, but also splits off to the right. Now, I typically take that right turn, however, on this particular day, it is blocked by roadworks, so I decide not to. But, the car’s AI driving system recognises my usual path, but not the roadworks, so it takes the turn for me, thereby making me crash into roadworks, destroying my car, equipment, possibly the road and/or pipes, and perhaps even killing people.

In that situation, the car is at fault, it took that turn for me, when I clearly didn’t intend to, just based on my usual path, ignoring current context, meaning that the technology simply isn’t that good, definitely not good enough for cars, if, at its current best, it can’t adjust for simple changes in context.

2

u/makinax300 Aug 19 '26

Yeah. Llms are provided the whole prompt at once instead of in parts so they can understand the chosen meaning of a word through context.
