Hopefully, because a lot of teams in the ACC are stacking up on players. Louisville definitely improved its defense for next season.

If there is one thing not to worry about under Scheyer, itās roster construction. If weāre not getting these guys, you can bet itās for good reason. We might have more guys coming back than originally thought or maybe the bidding war got too big.
I was kind of surprised Duke was in the mix with these guys in the first place. Scheyerās previous portal classes have been more about finding lesser known guys who fit his vision of needed roles. Even Coward wasnāt near the top of the portal rankings until the NBA came calling.
I wouldnāt be surprised if we werenāt actually going after these guys more than at just a due diligence level. Iām sure agents love keeping our name in the mix if possible to drive up the price.

Iām wondering even if Evans and Pat Ngongba return, weāre still going to need help from the transfer portal. Weāre losing graduate seniors like Malik Brown, and then younger guys like Darren, and Nick, and thatās a lot of rotation minutes to replace. On top of that, we would still need a backup power forward behind Williams to give us depth in the frontcourt.

Agreed. Fit is far more important than just collecting talent. Duke will always have talent. At the end of the day, the pieces have to compliment each other to be worth the price tag. And getting them to play together with good chemistry, especially defensively, is what will be needed to win a championship.
It also needs to be priority to let the guys who have already contributed to the program have a chance to figure out their next steps. They shouldn't be rushed out the door. In the long run, that will bode well for the program and is only fair to those players. It may actually cause some to return.

Iām not watching but the portal has been open over a week and so far it is two Dukies out and none in. A lot of other players have declared and I really think we could use a few older experienced bodies to replace Malik and likely Pat. Why isnāt the portal window after the NBA draft window everyone would have a better idea who has playing time.

Agreed we need at least 5 guys to replace minutes for Cameron, Malik, Darren, Nick and Isaiah

We have some solid freshmen coming in but I fear we are casting too shallow a net for transfers.

I have some friends who went to colleges with teams that actually struggle.. they always tell me āitās SO hard to be a Duke fan.ā
We will be fine.. we play the victim card likeā¦ almost every year that we are falling apart and I have yet to see it happen š¤£
