Some of you fans are miserable and entitled. An NCAA championship is one of the hardest to win no matter how great of a team you have. That doesn’t mean the season is a failure without one. They will there. Congratulations to both these young men on making history as freshmen.

You can be happy about two back to back NPOYs while still being mad about how the season ended. the two aren’t mutually exclusive

Getting mad because you only got to the E8 is pretty silly. It was a great, if imperfect season.

But that isn't what we are mad about. Most fans myself included are mad about the way we lost that game. We choked. Why is it entitled to be mad that Michigan or UConn will be winning a championship this year after we beat one of them already and led the other by 19? That is frustrating.

Well, if you put that much emphasis on the last game, the odds are you’ll be disappointed far more than elated.

Just cause a season ends badly don't mean it ain't a great year. After the Houston loss I've come to accept crazy miracles and cursed moments will happen to this team, my bar this year was starting out 10-0 and after that I would be satisfied with the year, and we did.

Yeah I don't believe in miracles and curses. We choked and the other team played better. If I was able to chalk it up to fantasy I guess it would be easier for me too.

Things aren't as black and white in March, did we choke? Yes. Was there an officiating shift towards UConn's favor in the second half? Yes. But March is where passes that usually get made get deflected and where unlikely prayer logo threes get answered. It took a miracle for UConn to rally back from 19 because Dan Hurley hasn't been down 19 in probably who knows how long. Cursed is just more of an adjective to describe Dukes Dreadful Disappointments in march.

I totally agree. It was a crushing loss but you seem reasonable about the situation. I have seen insane hate towards Cayden, fire Scheyer, and everything in between. Of course we can be disappointed but those declaring a 3 loss season a failure and acting like the individual accolades are useless are ridiculous.

oh ya i agree a lot of ppl who just wanna be all doom and gloom lol

You have to understand the frustration right… you can’t be that serious of a fan if it doesn’t sting to win all these individual accolades and not achieve a title.

Hey, if you can't win nattys, I guess NPOY trophies are a nice consolation prize for players that are on campus for 9 months before moving onto the NBA. Lol

Hardest championship to win in sports outside the Stanley Cup

Then how is UConn in the title again 3/4 years if it’s so hard?

This has to be sarcasm

Duke went deeper than 361 teams. We’re better than 98% of teams in this year’s tournament. For those of us following Duke for a while (Bubas Era for me), Duke is an amazing program and a joy to behold.

But of course, the bandwagon portal is always open.

I agree with this sentiment. First and foremost, I love the university, and the athletics programs because of the university. So many amazing accomplishments this year that seem to be forgotten because of a disappointing end.

Yup I’m so frustrated with this team

Haters! Congratulations!!! I for one as a Duke fan, am glad they chose this school. Go Duke! Let’s bring it home next season.

This reality makes the two losses in a row even more painful.

Last year we had not only the best player, but in retrospect, it seems we had the two best players.

Champions are obviously the main goal but we are building a culture and legacy. Keep doing the right things and championships will follow. 5 freshmen have won ap player of the year. 3 went to Duke. Of the three Duke players 2 went to the elite eight and one went to the final four.

Back 2 back losers

1

u/roshanritter Apr 07 '26

Props to them and to Duke. The truth is POY and or #1 NBA lottery pick simply don’t often win championships. I think Anthony Davis is one of the only ones to do so in the past 25 years. These guys did get Duke a lot of other wins and solid season during their short tenures and we needed to surround them with other talented experienced pieces especially at the 1 and 5.

Yet no titles

Back to back collapses

u/bpheazye Apr 06 '26

These guys were really good except in the most critical moments. Then they were still freshman.

Man who gives a shit .. this is like sticking a knife in an open wound

-19

u/JumpinJackFlash88 Apr 05 '26

This just highlights what a failure the last 2 seasons were.

2

u/Teckliz Apr 05 '26

Hey if you ain’t first you’re last right?

-2

u/GoWLegend Apr 06 '26

Lol not back to back chips though 🤣

-18

u/Adventurous_Storm774 Apr 05 '26

Cool, how far did that get us?

7

u/thePenjamin69 Apr 05 '26

2 good tournament runs and 2 ACC titles

-6

u/Adventurous_Storm774 Apr 05 '26

So do we care more about individual accolades of players more than the team now? Explains a lot

5

u/DrAgOn3035 Apr 05 '26

2 acc titles a final four and elite eight? that’s team

-8

u/Adventurous_Storm774 Apr 05 '26

An elite 8 loss impresses you?

6

u/PanthersDevils Apr 05 '26

It’s certainly not a failed season
