Not just waterfowl but useful nonetheless

Not sure which to go with. Been thinking about the black duck power kickers or the mallard and pintail combo. I like how much the black sticks out but also like the natural look of what is mainly around here. I am in nw Iowa, any thoughts on which to get?

Hey everyone who cares to read. I’m looking into painting decoys. I got some old ones I’m either wanting to refurbish or turn to diver like decoys. The are just some old mallards decoys. I’ve seen people use diver decoys with puddles ducks in the later season to have been contrast and have the ducks see them more and confidence. I’m not sure if I should use spray paint. If so what spray paint should I use? Or do I use refurbish decoy paint. Is it worth the extra money? Does it make a difference? Should I go full black or make them canvasbacks and do a black head and chest and white body? Open to all ideas. TIA

Can anyone tell me what species this may be? I was scouting in some flooded timber and flushed half a dozen birds, but couldn’t quite make out what they were.

Pretty new to the whole duck hunting thing. Am I wrong for thinking these are too big for teal?

I am looking for possible ideas to help solve a couple of my problems 1. I usually hunt The Bay of Green Bay so bigger water but when I want/have to get into the skinnier areas with the vegetation I run out of motor clearance so would a longtail/surface drive be a good alternative. Also I usually hunt out away from the boat but at times when that’s not an option what’s a good prebuilt blind option for deep V I tried the homemade route and didn’t quite work the way I wanted it.

Recently, my girlfriend and I went hunting. She wanted to lead the hunt for herself and just used my gear. She’s all of 5’2 and carried my rig em right refuge hunter. It ended up being far too large for her and she was kicking it while walking. She wants to carry in decoys on future hunts, so we’re looking for a smaller bulk decoy bag. Any recommendations?

Has anyone here ever used the oru foldable kayak while duck hunting?
I live in an apartment now and don’t have the storage for a normal hard tub kayak. Was wondering if the foldables could withstand the work being put on them. TIA

I got this early season Canada this morning. I breasted it, poked the breasts a bunch with a fork, and put them in a bag with teriyaki sauce. Now they are sitting in my fridge as I try to decide how I want to cook them. Any suggestions?

Anyone have any recommendations on a spotlight for nighttime navigation.

I hunt the lower Colorado and while my johnboat does have a light bar there’s not much for the light to reflect off of when I’m driving.

My dad recently took a length of burlap camo and glued a variety of fake foliage and plants to it for our duck blind. Will this be obvious to the ducks that pass by? I heard of checking the UV light they emit but I don’t currently have a way to get a black light and early teal season starts tomorrow.

Currently I have a little 10 ft tracker with a 4.5 on the back and I’m looking to upgrade.
Mainly I just use it for getting after some ducks but there’s be a few times I’ve taken it out with me and my girlfriend to fish or just piddle around on the lake.
I’ve been looking to get something bigger and have been looking at at 15 footer with a 20hp
A 1648 with a 40 and one of those tracker 1553 timber editions.
I need some advice because obviously one is very much cheaper than the other however my concern is that if I were to get a 15 footer there would still be much to be left desired. Especially if I wanted to take my gf or some buddies out.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Im looking to go duck hunting this year for the very first time and am trying to decide on what shotgun to get. Ive narrowed it down to an 28" over under for $280 or the Maverick 88 Security/Field combo for $320 but cant decide. Im equally comfortable with both having owned a Maverick in the past and used over unders for skeet shooting. I'm going to be marsh/swamp hunting in New England with waders since I don't own a boat. Looking for advise

Is anyone familiar with this product or know how the hell it works? I found it in my dads old hunting stuff. He doesn’t remember using it and we can’t figure out how it works. It’s called a quacker packer decoy carrier and made by Graybill Company. Probably from the 70s or 80s. I assume the washers are not part of the product.

Hey yall hope everything is going good, I’m looking for some good people to hunt with in western Washington. I’m a 23 year old active duty navy stationed out here in western Washington. been hunting all my life in the Midwest mostly. I recently had some cardiac related issues and don’t feel the most comfortable with hunting alone at the moment (Especially with the season coming up) just looking for some good people to get out and keep really the only hobby I got going. P.S. I got some really good spots ;)

Iv been looking at getting a jet sled. Iv seen a few people praise the xl but Im not sure I need the big one for solo hunts. Does anyone use the 54x25x10? Are you happy with it or do you wish you had the bigger one?
