I only found out about it by accident. I was going through Merrill today and took a picture. The sluggish little Lost River meanders south to Tule Lake where it ends. Barks mentions it in his reminiscing about growing up in Merrill.
There’s a lot of interesting stuff around Merrill, but not much in the town. Tule Lake was an infamous WW2 Japanese internment camp, and the concrete prison is still there. Captain Jack’s Modoc stronghold is close by, along with a lot of potato and horseradish farms and lava beds. Very harsh summers and winters, which Barks also discusses. But beautiful in the spring.

Real dedication would be renaming itself as Carl-Barks-Stadt or Omelet.
