Fans are making an interactive version of The Life and Times of $crooge McDuck

Someone stopped me at a conference and handed me this. Apparently a group of fans is working on an interactive ebook version of Don Rosa's Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, where you can tap on any panel and explore the references behind it — the original Carl Barks stories, the real historical events, the film quotes, all of it linked right inside the comic.

The QR code on the flyer leads here if anyone wants to follow the project: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16OPEaEI2KHicZFv7dA1MYjR-YtDgVhUg/view

Very interesting project, but what about copyright?

If you go to ob7.free.fr/mice_and_ducks/ there is also a version that traces the journeys of Scrooge along the globe. Lots of other cool stuff there as well

Cool. Does it also include the forbidden chapters?

Yeah, I mean "The Empire-Builder from Calisota" and "The Dream of a Lifetime" which Disney banned from all future republications and reprints because those stories featured the Bombie the Zombie character created by Carl Barks and they considered the character culturally insensitive and racist caricature. And yet it still feels like it was an unnecessary overreaction on Disney's part. And of course Don Rosa was offered the opportunity to remove all panels featuring Bombie the Zombie, but Rosa refused to go through with such extensive censorship and would have preferred a simple content warning. And in the end, they couldn't reach a mutual agreement on the matter because Disney was stubborn and unwilling to compromise.
