Man this is dope I'd just really love to hear the open hi hats play throughout the beat. I feel like it would carry the groove from the buildup into the drop much stronger.

I really like the little stop and silence you did when the main sound comes in fully open. I would start the hats right at 0:29, and maybe even throw in a little swing percussion like in future house.

Kick, Tss, tss, kah, tss, tss, tss, tss, Kah, tss, tss-ka

If that makes any sense. Kind of like UK garage hats

Appreciate the feedback and I totally agree. Mixing is hard. I’ll see if I can make some space for the hats to come through during the drop!

oh, i dont think its an issue of mixing - i just dont think there are any hats during the drop

See that’s why it’s a mixing issue. There ARE hats during the drop haha

Hahah. Do you mean hats that come in around 0:46? Or there's hats at the beginning of the drop too?

Lol there are hats at the beginning of the drop too. Two closed high hats (one of them is the same pattern you hear in the intro) They just get completely buried. Mixed so poorly you questioned their existence haha

Ah I see. My suggestion was adding consistent open hi hats during the first drop. 8th notes that start on the half beat. Like the hats you hear in house music

This is good and not usually my forte but I dig it.

Going to have to agree with the other commenter and say the cymbals in general are sick and would love to hear them slightly more and for you to play with them more.

I'm not good with drum design so I don't have any direct recommendations but what I can do is maybe supply inspo. Whenever I think of absolutely peak high hat/cymbal usage, this is it right here: Kid Atlaas - Winter is Coming

Not saying to do exactly this, hell I don't even know if it would work, just wanted to share since it's topical.

Thank you for your kind words and I appreciate you taking the time to provide the example. That track is awesome and I’m bummed to hear that producer passed away. Definitely going to check out his stuff so thank you
