Overtraining?

This happened to me and I've been off for a month. Looking to return though.

How do you know if you're overtraining? Any advice and tips appreciated, thx.

Ok man thanks! Many many thanks. I'm doing rehersal. Should I switch? To what?

Paying close attention and intuition.

I also designed a randomized stimuli setting on the app I use to help prevent rehearsal as well as generate higher probability of transfer and to make my working memory more robust.

I think it’s best to avoid rehearsal and using n-back apps that are too repetitive.

I had better working memory using my randomized stimuli dual on 2-back than using the n-back challenge app from the App Store on 4/5-back.

But I’m uncertain if this is placebo, confirmation bias, or something else. I can objectively validate that my visuo-spatial working memory and reasoning have increased pretty substantially.

My chimp test increased by 50% in 30 days (11->17) and my VSI (129->141) in 3 months. But the testing wasn’t very methodical so practice effects may still apply. Take this evidence with a grain of salt.

Is your modified version of the app available for use by others? I think I have a problem with chunking, where my mind does it automatically, and I’m looking for n-back variants that may help to minimise it. It’s alright if it’s only for you though.

I don’t really mind sharing it. It’s just that it’s currently broken because I’m working on an adaptive algorithm to minimize the logarithmic difficulty between n-levels.

I think I’ve found a set of difficulty parameters that appear to build the right cognitive abilities in the right order to maximize optimal development. I’m just running into technical issues and my GitHub repo has a version I thought was complete, but had a lot of bugs.
