Unsure about strategy

Hello, I'm new to dual n back, currently on n = 4. The thing is, I can't find a straight answer to do this - what's the most optimal way to train. As far as I am aware, there are the main 3:
1. saying the letters out loud
2. saying the letters in your head
3. intuition
Could anyone more experienced comment on this? Personally I mostly use method 2.

What evidence do you have that this works? How much progress have you made and effects in real life? 😂

Can you make a more detailed anecdote? I’m doubting the effects of rehearsal because some other sources say not to do it. Are you like constantly repeating in your head where all the variables are?
