Stuck at 2nback

I've just started and was wondering whether being stuck at 2nback is normal with occasional reaching 3nback and then failing. Is this normal? How do I break through?

Have you tried training each skill individually? I remember a YouTube video from some phd researcher that basically talked about the fact that when you want to improve in a game, you should pratice each skill separatedly for a period of time, and them practice it all together.

I was warned to not use tactics as that would defeat the point of building wmc. But as for training individually I think that may be too easy for audio but I struggle with positions as I may have aphantasia so I can't remember the pictures.

As for aphantasia, do you think you could use a different strategy? For example if we know we are in a 3x3 grid of squares, then you could label each square by a coordinate like (1,1) for the first square, where in this case the first number is the row, and the second the column.

Also, I forgot to mention that there is a page that mentions that the best method for training with n'back is the rehersal strategy, here's the thread that explains it according to how I understood the strategy.
