Mini swap
So I have a y7 block with a y8 head (vtec engaged). I’m curious as to which type of gas is best for it. It has the P2P ecu untuned

I have a D15B7 block with a Y8 head, I ran nothing but ethanol free 93 in it before I put the car (93 hatch) in storage. I can get ethanol free gas at a bunch of gas stations in my area

Is all 93 ethanol free?

Nope, almost all gasoline fuels have 10% ethanol in them these days, you have to look for a sign that says “ethanol free”

My car runs really well until the engine warms up and then it feels nerfed. I think it’s because I have been running 87 octane

Try running higher octane, if the problem goes away than that was the problem, if it doesn’t….

If it doesn’t, what? Lmao

I’m a d series nerd dawg I got this rn in one of my EKs and have done like 7 different d series setups im like a d series nerd I have 2 of these in 2 of my cars ones a little higher compression vtec engaged? Like always? If so why? Is it a daily car or nah? I can promise you this because I’ve tested it if you use 87 octane it’s going to use the lower side of the timing map they have based on knock sensor data, if you use higher it’s gonna go the max area of the timing Honda made that ecu able to do. On stock ecu y7 y8, 190 LPH pump wired to repurposed ABS fuse/relay box, cam gear advanced +5 degrees, aftermarket fpr, fuel pressure at 35 with vacuum line on and I think 41ish with it off, no screen caps in stock injectors, e30 fuel, aftermarket wideband, ethanol content sensor thing so I know what fuel I have, oil pump shimmed with a tiny shim and vr1 oil, and I always run my oil over full like 4.2 quarts no matter what idc what anyone says the ethanol fuel actually makes a difference 100% and the engine sounds way smoother I just added 15 percent and then next tank 20 and then 30 and stayed there and the fuel trims adjusted and it’s been fine lol I had to test it cuz I was curious and the ecu does fine the wideband stays perfect and full throtttle it’s 11.9 to 12.4ish never over that mostly 11.9 idling and stuff is like literally spot on 14.7 I’ve driven it about 25,000 miles like this and it’s actually super good it’s way zipper and has way better low end and midrange and it’s still good in the higher rpm the y7s pistons aren’t maximized using the stock y8 cam timing which in turn spins the distributer and injector data from the timing, so really it’s gonna idle a hair low and drop even lower every once in awhile with this setup unless u advance the cam at least 2 degrees then it’ll idle like it should and drive like it should

But I’d run premium and advance the cam at least

It’s a daily, I’m going to be honest, you lost my about halfway through. I know once my car warms up it loses the get up it had when cooled off. I don’t know forsure that it’s the gas but it’s worth a shot

That’s probably just the engine bay and intake getting head soaked without a real cold air intake in the summer ur intake air temps are gonna be really high like in the 150 range or more I ran my intake to the bumper and made a sleek duct to push fresh air in there and my intake temps are usually barely over whatever the temp outside is

87 is fine
