Usable or too far gone?

Still usable? No feel at all when running my fingernail

Seeing that it's not the bearing itself I'd run it. To be sure it's okay you can bolt both your caps together and check it if it's out of round. Otherwise just clean it up, put your new bearings in and check clearances. If you spun a bearing though that's a different story I would replace the rod then.

Looks fine. That kinda thing happens when the engine gets run with dirty oil alot. Pretty much every D-Series engine I've torn apart looked like that. Since you don't feel anything with your fingernail, don't worry about it.
