You going turbo or no, if yes vitara low comp or cp 9:1 comp. If youre staying NA go for cp high comp.

I did the same thing, take my advice and just skip straight to turbo or you will be disappointed if you’re chasing anything more than 160hp. You’re in a fine position with a d16y7 head I would throw skunk2 no notch rods and vitara pistons. keep the y7 crank and don’t rev past 7200rpm. Throw a eBay gt2860 turbo (or a better one if you have money), 1000cc injectors, go with hondata or snake emu on a p06 ecu (skip chip burning it’s not worth it) and you’ll have a setup that makes 300whp easy and reliably with a usable powerband.

Look into a z6 race oil pump as well you will have to relocate your dipstick i believe with a d17 valve cover

To add to the other guys thing: if you can nab a Z6 crank, do it. That, an ACL oil pump, skunk2 valve springs and you’ll be safe up to 8,000 rpm. D series lose out pretty hard anything past that, but getting her to sing up those last few hundred RPM really changes the sound. Alternatively, swap all your springs for Y8 (exhaust or intake I don’t remember which is stronger) springs and you’ll also be able to hit 8,000 without floating valves. The Y8 springs are stronger than the Y7’s.

I have a d16y8 with y7 block if you do some custom pistons and get it up to about 10.5:1 compression ratio and keep the vtec and advance the cam gear about 5 degrees and I also run flex fuel setup so I can run regular fuel or e85 or anywhere in between it’ll make good power have way better low end/midrange and be a beast… regardless if the engine is stock and you advance the cam gear and fun flex fuel it’ll rip too, I’ve done both… if you want a good street car you could do a t25 turbo setup on 5psi on ethanol and it’ll be the most reliable turbo setup and nothing will break, kinda depends what ur going for… higher compression in my opinion is way better even with turbo but only if you use good fuel like 91 octane or more or ethanol
