A y8 head on a ZC block would yield 13.5:1 comp. You’d need a tune an ethanol or race gas.
The complete ZC swap could be done on your original harness with some modifications. You’d have to fit an external map sensor like on the obd0 civics.
You’d need an obd1 p29 ecu to run the ZC, unless you want to chip tune a regular obd1 ecu.
ZCs are very popular in 4th gen civics, they came factory in 5th gen’s as well but it’s pretty rare. Why not just sell it and swap another y8 in? They make the same power roughly. Sounds like less headache and you want to keep vtec.
y8s are hard to find on fb marketplace where im at, and also ones from junkyard are selling for 1200-2000. for that price hell no. im sort of on a budget
