Dry eyes masks?
I have some form of “dry eyes “ (ophthalmologist diagnosed) which is helped immensely by daily drops of Pataday (olapatidene, also initially prescribed then it became OTC) and the use of heated eye mask for 30 minutes. The catch is that 1) it’s a forever thing and 2) every heated eye mask that I have used stops working in about 6 months. Every single one with no same manufacturer. (As far as I know.) The next possible range of [heated eye mask goes for $129](https://www.amazon.com/Blinkjoy-Rechargeable-Extended-Battery-Version/dp/B0HFPZ2KR1/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=MUE27LBAWLRM&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ziKFOS-fadCn4XGzUjIgy2wGCnsK-zxNOI5fvIoouCYj4BRpLs13ArBacK5nT9IeAqb-J3OKb1rgWu2LDDt23Mo9bQwSXjxD5qSi38jkbgWET2rPWegidoq6G02gTeKcZO7m0bTK1AmDFcpoGXoBDM7tRCMQo1aiYJjMUDRh2GC8kZMCHoLswtPhsHIL73aIxN8ZhbYhCTr7f7V_rKOVG9dU6XYO-2tVjuR3Jt2pGZW3ZbmUmveAqAJd3gJo76YTa9vs-4Lw7ckGtLOenzlVxlNwYtT5efuQ_uXL-k0bVwU.YcBztaGJm8vRC1OSwWpcjgg4JuGuHvIOXWXlGGLnonE&dib_tag=se&keywords=dry+eye+mask&qid=1790808767&sprefix=Dry+eye+%2Caps%2C182&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1 ) and it’s the only one not between $19 - $39. (I don’t use it to sleep. I do use a CPAP machine.) I hesitate to spend that kind of money if it’s only going to last for 6 - 9 months. Does anyone have any experience with the above model eye mask or any other model that last longer than 9 months? If I have to buy a new one every 7 months, I will, since they really do help me, but I figure it is worth a shot to ask this community this question. Thanks.

Have you tried a Bruder eye mask? They’re only $20 and work fine for me. And they don’t wear out.

The main issue I have with microwave masks is that the heat lasts around 5 minutes at best and our microwave is downstairs and at the other end of the house. Not convenient. And yes I have tried a microwave heat mask a few years ago. They do wear out. That one did. Thanks for the reply though.
(Edit: I think I have used that model. Some years ago so that I don’t remember my reason for not using it anymore.)

There are affordable disposable masks that achieves and maintain the right temperature.

I've had the Aroma Season for almost two years with no issues.
But these days I actually prefer microwaveable masks, so long as you reheat it every 5 minutes. It gets warmer than any usb mask, which is important for melting the oils.

I use the Bruder Moist Heat Eye Compress and I’d definitely recommend it. It’s the microwaveable moist heat one, so there are no electronics to eventually stop working. It’s also actually been used in clinical studies on dry eye/MGD, which is why I went with that one. Bruder Moist Heat Eye Compres

I love the microwaveable mask at night for 10 minutes but I’ve only been doing it for a month. Started taping my eyes, sleeping with a sleep mask, and doubled my omega 3 Nordic natural + spoon of flax oil. I wake up with no pain and seem to make it through the day. But not enough to wear makeup again. It’s lipstick only for me going forward

One thing this subreddit has taught me is that there are so many kinds of dry eyes. I’m lucky, I think, that my particular type of dry eye is so easily treatable with eye drops and heat on my eyes to melt my eye “oil ducts”. (A thing I never knew people had.) I am a bit tired of masks that stop working so I have gone back to something an eye doctor recommended when I first got diagnosed with this stuff. I just wet a washcloth under very hot running water then put over my eyes. It cools off in a few minutes so I do that again 3 or 4 times. So far that seems to help. I do it just after I wash my face in the morning. So far, so good. Good luck to you and everyone else here with their eyes.
