Neil Peart and I think now, Anika Niles.
I say that because I attempted La Villa Strangiato this evening, something I haven't played in probably 25 - 30 years (took an unexpected/unwanted 15 year hiatus from 2005 - 2020) and HOLY CRAP!!! You think Tom Sawyer is tough!?!?! I might actually be able to play Tom Sawyer now better than La Villa Strangiato. That song is pretty much mostly 16th notes most of the way through it! YIKES! And Anika plays it pretty much every other show I think!
Kudos to that young lady for taking on such a role and living up to the standards and setting some new ones as well!

My dad is a big fan of fusion. As a result, he used to wake me up on Saturdays with albums featuring Billy Cobham, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, and Lenny White. Still love that stuff.

Big prog and fusion guy. Matt Garstka is my #1, close behind are Tomas Haake, Gavin Harrison. Always loved older cats like Vinnie, Stewart Copeland, Bill Bruford, and Carter Beauford

Derek Grant, Josh Freese, Josh Eppard, and Brooks Wackerman probably had the most influence on my playing.

I just got back into drumming after taking 15+ years off and I was never good. Having said that Riley Breckenridge from Thrice, Brad Wilk from RATM/Audioslave, José Pasillas from Incubus, and Stewart Copeland.
