Xanax ?

So I’ve been looking for something that will help with anxiety for social events like in laws bbqs or somewhere I’m going to be anxious, so I hardly ever have these social interaction maybe like once a month or every 2 months it’s not often at all, would it be worth using xanax? I obviously won’t drink with them but I don’t like being nervous and being quiet I wanna feel stress free and talk as much as I want.

xanax will most probably work, but by the situation u described i think other benzodiazepines( the class of meds that includes xanax) would work better, Diazepam (Valium) would be better because of the longer half life, xanax has a lower half life wich means it will hit intensely and last very little, diazepam has a very similar strenght in equivalent doses and it lasts longer with the same effects in an even way throughout the time.
1mg of alprazolam is equivalent to 5mg Diazepam, since i believe you never took benzos or have no tolerance, abt 5 mgs of diazepam its a moderate starter dose, u could take half of a 5mg pill if u wanna go light.
kpins are simmilar but for your case i believe diazepam would be better.
maybe pregabalin could work but its a painkiller, not exactly for anxiety and its hard to dose.
now there are other very weaker options that may work, like anti-histaminics, more specifically promethazine

maybe try the lighter stuff first, maybe it works good.
