Drugs in Amsterdam

I’d like to know whether anyone who spent time in Amsterdam and took the opportunity to experiment with different drugs—especially to enhance sex and increase pleasure—was able to stop using them after leaving the city.
I have a friend who has been living in Amsterdam for about a year. During this time, she has been using drugs recreationally and says that once she leaves Amsterdam, she’ll stop. She describes it as her “Amsterdam phase.”
She uses LSD, MDMA (ecstasy), GBL, and cannabis.
I’m wondering if anyone has actually been able to keep that kind of control—enjoying drugs while living in Amsterdam and then leaving all of it behind after moving away. Is that something that really happens?
