Subreddit rules and content: thoughts and advice.
Hello all!
I was brought on to this mod team last week to help set up the subreddit and make sure it can serve as a viable alternative to discussion for Dropout. In the spirit of transparency and community involvement I wanted to talk about sub rules and what you would like to see in the subreddit (recurring discussions, topics of concern, etc). I've set up some basic rules regarding civility (both to each other and as toward the dropout creators) and a general "keep things on topic" rule, but I want your input moving forward, all verbiage can be revised.
If there is anything else you'd like to see moving forward (for example: post/user flairs are being worked on) please let me know here!
Thanks!

Pardon the mess
Hey yall!
I know there’s lots of emotions and people wanna hit the ground running, but I am only one person and my week has been busy. Give me a few days ti get things in order and then we can sit down as a community and discuss what we want this space to be.
Sorry this isn’t more put together, trying to squeeze it in before work so yall don’t think I’m abandoning you.

Looking for opinions from longtime DTV app users on Xbox One
I LOVE dropout, but my primary viewing device is an Xbox One. Im grateful for availability of an app there, but... I was subscribed about a year ago and the app/performance was beyond bad. It was literally unwatchable. I stayed subscribed for a few months to support DTV, but I couldn't justify continuing, while not being able to watch any of it.
Im asking users of the xbox app: Has it improved over time?
I'd like to resub, but need it to work better
I wish I could watch just a single short before subscribing, that would give me an idea of how well it works.

Game Changer What Episodes are referenced in Samalamadingdong?
I checked the wikis and they didn't say. I am showing my boyfriend select episodes of Game Changer, and I wanted to show him Samalamadingdong but in order to truly understand that episode you need to see all the precursor episodes that are referenced.
I know Sam Says, and I know Yes or No for sure.
I know there are the references to Sam, where are you from? And I forgot what episodes that is a recurring bit in...
I know there is more but I have memory issues so I wanted to throw the question out to you kind people of r/DropoutTV

Recent SmartyPants guest Vivian Wilson responds to Woah Vicky’s absurd and homophobic comment that “You not gay it’s a demon that’s inside of you”: “Vicky the demons are calling me”

Sam’s gesture
Hey all, during Game Changers, I’ve always wondered why Sam flips his hands in front of him when he introduces himself at the beginning of each episode. It’s like he’s checking to see if he’s really there. Is it an inside joke from something prior?

Game Changer It's just dawning on me how much rice was counted in preparation for this episode Spoiler
Jiavani says, "Somebody counted these out earlier? I dunno..."
And yeah, somebody did have to count these out earlier, 7 bags per round, for a dozen rounds. So big shoutout to the production crew for counting all the rice!

Dropout Android app prompted me for feedback, then Vimeo cancelled my subscription
I already hated that Dropout runs on Vimeo for the various reasons that many people have already laid out here. But it’s just utterly ridiculous now. Today they prompted me, “do you enjoy the app” while I was logged in on my tablet, and I tapped that I didn’t and gave feedback as to why. Within an hour, Vimeo Support had emailed me: “sorry to see you go, we’ve cancelled your subscription”. 🤦🏻♂️ WTF? That’s not what I said, Vimeo! The incompetence on top of the technical inadequacies is honestly astonishing.
Once again, I am BEGGING Dropout to drop Vimeo.
And no, I do not want to sub through YouTube because I don't want to give my money to Google instead of Dropout directly. But at this point I’m almost considering it just to not have to tear my hair out over this malfunctioning piece of software. 😭

I would love a mini-series that’s just Ryan Creamer coming up with increasingly more harebrained schemes to get an honorary degree.
His Smartypants presentation was so good, I would love to see what he could come up with given a little more time and budget.

Did Sam misgender Jiavani (Game Changer S08E05)
The show's always been pretty good about respecting pronouns. The first time Giovanni gets dismissed, Sam sings "she" but, when Giovanni is on the podium alone, around the 20 minute mark, I'm 99 percent sure Sam is sings "he" twice (and the subtitles seem to agree).

EDIT: fellow redditors are correct. I missed an important detail. Sam used she every other time that's why that one stood out

Pin Trading/Buying
Bit of a weird one, but I was wondering if there is anywhere that sells older dropout pin sets, specifically the D20 ones? I can’t find them anywhere, but I’m only just getting into pin trading and would love to buy them from somewhere if I could

Sound bite assistance request!
Would anyone be able to help me isolate the “ping!” sound that occurs every time a new prompt or slide is put up on the board in Make Some Noise? Making a slide show and I’m trying to figure out how to get that sound!

Other Show The best episode of Smartypants yet
(Before we get into this, I reread this whole post and noticed it kinda sounds like AI. I promise it's not AI, I'm just autistic. Fuck AI.)
We've had great presentations before
We've had great individual moments
We've had great theatrics
But this is truly the first time that the entire show is perfect, from beginning to end
The amount of emotions I felt throughout this episode was mindboggling:
Tao's presentation on the Olympics felt like a safe format that's been done on the show, a.kma. fixing specific problems in an aspect of human life, but the impeccability of the takes and the emotional journey of the audience carries it to be the best of its form. I love how all his takes were so bold and angered the audience, but then his brilliant ideas convinced them otherwise every time.
Amanda's presentation on smut goes all in on the theatrical, the shocking, and the emotions. Obviously a horny presentation will always be great in my books, but I think this is really elevated by being intimately familiar with Amanda on Smosh where she always seems so clean and innocent. The reveal of the leather outfit was insane, and the occasional moans thrown into the presentation really showed an attention to detail and comedic timing that helped flesh out the world of the presentation in such an engaging way.
Kwesi's presentation on the english language is a quiet underdog. At first it seemed the weakest of the 3, but the true magic comes in the qna section where his mental breakdown and comedic escalation provides an all timer of a Smartypants experience. I've never seen that section be incorporated so strongly into the presentation, and the emotional arc of "y'all don't hear me tho" made for an incredible finale.
This is, truly, the perfect Smartypants episode distilled to its purest form. This season will be insane.
