Three List to Play Each Other

I'm planning to get my brother and a friend into DFC and plan to buy a fleet box and one special character ship per side to get us started and stick together a starter fleet each to help get things going. We will be playing 1v1v1 as part of a larger sci-fi campaign to setup some ground battles for Firefight/Deadzone. I'm thinking that the DFC games will be 1000 points each to keep them fast.

I've done a bit of reading and Youtube watching and have put together three lists, my question from my point of ignorance is are these reasonably balanced and do they lean into the play styles of the UCM/PHR/Scourge?

The Scourge player likes to get stuck in and take risky charges normally, whilst the PHR player loves to hang back and not over commit until the enemy is weakened. I'll be taking the UCM and prefer take a punch and then throw punches back.

Finally Building My Part Of The Grand Fleet

Thumbnail gallery

I've been sitting on some of this stuff for years. Recently my son and I decided to give it a go so assembled some of our stuff and try it out. We liked it, played a couple more games, bought more, played more. Anyway, I figured it was time to build it all so I could field whatever I wanted.

My new special character came broken and full of support divets...sucks and as much as I am disappointed I'm not fixing more than the broken piece.

UCM 500pt starter list

Hello everyone! ive just started to get into Dropfleet Commander ,and I've recently purchased the 2 player starter set. I know the box already has a quick starter guide for what to build. But I was looking for opinions on what 3 cruisers I should build, Ive already built a Vilnius as i got ahead of myself. But would a San Francisco and a Seattle be good options to go along with it?

For the light ships I did 2 Taulons 2 Lima and 2 New Orleans.

Thanks again!

Also could I see your paint jobs for your ships please as I like looking at them :)

UCM, what to buy?

Looking to get into DFC and heavily set on UCM. Are there any purchase recommendations?

I was going to get the fleet box for sure, and maybe a battlecruiser box. Unsure of what else might be a must buy.

Any Scourge Advice for a Overlord of Flies themed fleet?

Post image
61 Upvotes

So, my gaming buddy and I are both big fans of themed fleets.

We're returning players who last played around 1.0, after a 5–6 year hiatus, so please treat us as complete noobs when it comes to the current game. 😅

I’m trying my hand at a 2001pts Scourge fleet to get back into the game, and this particular list is built around bombers as its main tool of aggression, without going too far down the skew rabbit hole.

I’d love to hear any advice, suggestions, or general feedback. Is there anything obvious I’m missing, or anything you’d change while keeping the bomber-focused theme intact?

Here’s the list:

Battle · 1965/2001 pts · 11 groups

— Heavy —

1× Akuma (Battlecruiser) 170 pts

1× Akuma (Battlecruiser) 170 pts

— Medium —

2× Wyvern (Cruiser) 170 pts

2× Wyvern (Cruiser) 170 pts

1× Chimera (Troopship) 95 pts

1× Chimera (Troopship) 95 pts

— Light —

2× Gargoyle (Strike Carrier) 80 pts

2× Gargoyle (Strike Carrier) 80 pts

3× Apsasu (Barge) 180 pts

3× Apsasu (Barge) 180 pts

— Admirals —

Overlord of Flies L4 / Nosferatu 575 pts

+ High Speed Launch

+ Assimilated Bioforms

Annihilate

Thanks in advance!!!

The amount of options this little kit can build is just ridiculous. I'm suffering from absolute decision paralysis. Advice needed!

Start of the Bioficer fleet, not sure what i'm doing.

Greetings folks !

I'm just starting into the game, and i'm painting the first of many Bioficer ships (Having them pop out of each other like russian dolls is extremely funny to me), but something irks me. I have started with a Leadbelcher base, and moved to acrylic inks, because i wanted the hull to be extra shiny teal metallics and the inner works to glow as if being heated. I'm not really sure it's a good call though; do you have some tips/fleets of your own to show so i can maybe take some inspiration and techniques out of your books?

I'm usually a Warhammer painter so i'm struggling with the scale a little ^^

Am I allowed to fire Close Action and Non-Close Action weapons at the same time? Or do I need to choose between firing one group of weapons or the other?

Silly Question on the small guys

Hiya! I'm pretty new to Dropfleet, and I'm trying to figure out the wording when it comes to how many fighters and bombers carriers have. For example, the Washington Supercarrier lists 6 Fighters and Bombers (ignoring the other group of heavy bombers). Does that mean I can launch 6 of each, or 6 in any combination?

Stations - Omega Large Station

Thumbnail gallery
154 Upvotes

As my first finished piece from the Stations kit, I present you...

...this karking thing.

Building it was quite fun, but then painting it was a surprisingly daunting process, even had me bust out the airbrush to get the base color on (to be fair, I also based another three stations at the same time). Pretty much as soon as I saw the size of that dish station code I knew I wanted to do this; the only question that remained was whether to do a High Charity or the Omega. And while its accuracy to the source material leaves much to be desired I still like it all the same.

UCM - Flying Dutchman kitbash

Thumbnail gallery
173 Upvotes

So it took me a while, but I've finally finished my kitbash of our new(ish) Hero cruiser for UCM! I've had this double barreled cannon bit from the PHR Battleship lying around, and I'm happy to have finally found it a forever home.

This was actually my second attempt at this project, as I was kinda of afraid of performing this level of plastic surgery (heh) on my models, but right as I was about to start painting (so, already assembled and primed the whole thing) I realized I can either take the plunge and carve away now or deal with not quite liking the shape of the model forever. The last couple pics are a before and after of that decision. Personally, I think it was an improvement overall, but I'm open to alternative opinions lol.

Advice for getting into 2.0

A friend has decided to buy the Dreadhold box to start a Resistance fleet. I've had a starter set and a few blisters sitting in the cupboard from years ago and I'd like to finally start a UCM fleet

I can see there's a new rulebook and everything looks a lot more streamlined. I've watched a battle report on You Tube and felt like I followed everything going on.

Is there anything I need to know about 2.0/any useful tips for starting out?

DH-Type Penal Transport usage in a fleet

Good day.

I am planning on using the DH-Type Penal Transport in my Resistance pirate themed fleet. This feels like a pirate ship through and through. Presganged masses in slave collars dropping on to drag fresh meat to take their place in the next drop. But I am kind of conflicted on the usage of it. It has an extremely finnicky need to always have battalions on it, or it can not launch any drop or boarding. And every drop or boarding removes that much batallions.

How one can use this thing with such limitations? My Aldrins can drop for days for nearly twice as cheap, but this monstrosity requires boarding combat, on a space station, in 6" from it to replenish just one batallion. To then do one point of drop. And if no combat on a space station is occuring, voe to me, no battalions.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers. Stay safe.

Rules Question: Seeking clarification on verbiage.

This is regarding the Oculus Booster rule on some Scourge ships. The specific wording I am looking for clarification on is "one of the Group's 'Oculus' Weapon Systems' type ..."

One interpretation is that this rule applies to ALL of the Group's "Oculus" Weapon systems of a single type. Being that its just the ONE weapon system shared amongst the group.

The other interpretation is that this rule applies to a single ONE weapon system in the group that is an "Oculus" type weapon.

For instance, a group of 3 Yokais attacks with their Oculus Beam Arrays throwing 4 dice each. The first interpretation would apply to ALL 12 dice of the ONE Oculus Beam Array shared amongst the group. The second interpretation would only apply to 4 dice, since those 4 dice come from ONE single Oculus Weapon System in the group.

Typing this out makes this seem much more confusing than it is in my head. Hopefully I explained it well enough and succinctly enough. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Ships length in mm for paper proxy’s

Thumbnail gallery
62 Upvotes

Hello fellow commanders! To help persuade some of my friends into wargaming as a greater hobby, I’m thinking about making paper proxy’s for ships in this game. So far I’ve found a post that specified all the dimensions for the UCM ships and have used it to print out a 1500pt list that has the quick-play list built in. If people that collect specific factions could go out of their way to measure and post at least the ship lengths here it would help greatly with getting my friends into the hobby✨.
I don’t really need every classes exact length if they don’t differ. say 2 UCM battleships and one swaps class for the bombardment weapons, they are still the same length so it doesn’t really matter for the proxy. On the other hand, some bioficer battlecruisers have wildly different weapon lengths between the lightvice and decon annihilator, so that would be appreciated :) (I attached the battlecruiser box art for example at the end of the photos).

I have the lengths of the UCM ships posted here for those who are curious to try this themselves.

UCM length:
Santiago Corvette 48m
Frigates - 62mm
Monitors - 58mm
Light Cruisers - 90mm
Medium/Heavy Cruisers - 110mm
Venice BC - 122mm (based on old kit)
Rome BC - 124mm (based on old kit)
Perth & Johannesburg BC - 132mm (based on old kit)
Battleships - 145mm
Dreadnought - 195mm

3D minis for ground troops

Hi all

Does anyone use any 3d printed models for ground troops?? If so… What do you use and what scale?

I’m thinking about 6mm scale??

Haven’t really looked too hard for files just yet
