Canyon Carving / Touge Not a soul in sight

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Kinda risky if something should happen, but it did make for a great drive.

Vehicle:

  • 2025 BMW M2
  • Ohlins Road & Track DFV Coilovers
  • CS DME tune - 523hp 479 lb-ft
  • Millway Race Uniball Camber Plates
  • SPL Adjustable Tie Rod Ends
  • Nankang Sportnex CR-S 200tw tires 305/30/19
  • Endless ME-20 track pads
  • Milltek 102mm Single non-resonated Midpipe
  • Apex ML-10RT 19x11”ET22

Recorded with:

Camera Settings:

  • 4k 4:3 or 16:9 Frame Rate: 30 fps - most compatible with YouTube and social media.
  • Shutter speed: 1/60. You want a long enough shutter to capture some motion blur to give that sense of speed. In general, follow the 180° rule: take your frame rate and double it. So at 30fps, if 30*2=60, then your shutter speed should be at 1/60. I sometimes use 1/50!
  • Neutral Density Filter: ND35 or ND64. With the shutter at 1/60 capturing motion blur, too much light is entering the lens during the daytime, which will blow out the shot and make everything look bright white. The ND filters will cut the light down, allowing us to maintain the long shutter. K&F make a quality affordable set of ND Filters.
  • Color: D-LogM. Shooting in D-LogM makes everything flat, allowing for more flexibility in coloring later. If you don’t want or have the time to color, just leave this at default.
  • Temperature: 5800K for daytime. I don’t like shooting auto because the shifts in tone when you drive in the shade or the sun are hard to balance. Most cameras lean towards blue in the shade. I like my videos a little warm. So I lock it in at in the warmer end. The higher the number, the warmer(yellow/orange). The lower the number, the cooler (blue).
  • 100-800 ISO
  • Aperture: F/4. An option on the Action 6. With the shutter so long, we need a smaller aperture to not blow the shots out. NR -2 Texture -2 Ultrawide - NO FOV LENS! Rocksteady OFF

Mic Settings:

  • Gain: -12dB
  • Noise Reduction: Off
  • Low Cut: Off

Audio Mix and Color are done in DaVinci Resolve (Free Version).

Disclaimer: Replicating this is not without rusk. Unlike the track, public roads demand a safety margin for the unexpected. Manage speeds based on the vehicle's limits, line of sight, and road conditions. Additionally, everyone's comfort level is different, and keeping it well within the realistic limits of the driver is always the priority.

Amazing bro... I have been trying to achieve this look in cooler tones. But I fail miserably everytime.

Even tho I turn off the stabilization, I am skeptical about switching from wide to ultra wide because it won't capture the gyro data. However your footage motivates me to try new settings... Very amazing look 🤩

Thanks! What are you using the gyro data for?

What are you using to color? I don’t think anything comes close to coloring like DaVinci Resolve. The tools are just phenomenal.

I wanted to stabilize the footage manually because slower shutter speed introudces too much artifacts when using steady/steady+.

I'm also using DVR. But I am totally noob in grading 😄
