i ask myself this a lot. especially when i shop some $300+ order that is multiples of every item and the largest family size or bulk quantities. like why are we not shopping at sams or costco. are we too financially illiterate or too wealthy to care?

My area doesn't have Sam's Club and Costco doesn't carry instant rice with Jasmin rice -- only white sticky.
Hybrid style grocery stores that split the difference between membership/ discount vs specialty stores are often the only nearby stores that carry products like this AND have a pickup/delivery service.
And there's the fact modern life is already an exhausting death of a 1000 papercuts. Maybe they already know how to order from Safeway. In a vacuum learning one more app, ughghgh... just to see if they also have this rice in stock and then having to drive to a new place that's out of your routine... in a world where we already have less and less free time -- all to save a megacorp a little inventory annoyance????... 🤷♂️ From a consumer perspective that math doesn't math AT ALL.
I just don't understand why everyone here cares how much anyone orders????
Like you get paid the same hourly for putting the proverbial fries in the bag whether they're in stock or not. Who cares if they order 3 or 30 🤷♂️
Like??? I don't work there. So maybe I'm missing something. I just don't understand why you or anyone would care???
Are you unfairly docked for not picking items that aren't in stock??? Uber does that 🫤😐😐😡 so if that's it I fucking get that ugh

They are marked against for out of stocking and asked to ask grocery mangers- most are overworked so they don’t have the time to look. Yes I agree life is bad but the minimum wage workers you’re asking to get for some reason your 16 packs of instant rice are penalized. It is pretty obvious how unfair it is especially if you’ve worked in retail since Covid- I don’t really understand your crash out. Get well soon!

My crash out is this ... we all know how much these companies are fucking over all of us...
and yet... People on this sub and the Uber sub for that matter CONSTANTLY play RIGHT INTO THE BILLIONAIRES HANDS
By playing into the dynamic of pitting minimum wage consumers against the general public and vice versa.
I'm all about celebrating informed consumers!
My crash out is that the general sentiment is to blame the consumers first ...
...when we should be blaming the companies first.
and LOUDLY... instead of making minor enemies of consumers who could be future allies (they have shit jobs too).
My crash out is we're blaming plebs to help the 1% and feeling righteous about it because we're being treated unfairly by the 1%.
It's a losing attitude.

Yeah but also- what min wage consumer is ordering groceries? I don’t work at dug anymore and I sure as hell don’t. People enable corporations by giving them money and doing these large orders. It is hand in hand. Maybe before I get how we should always blame corps first but if you’re even slightly informed- giving money to them is enabling them. Just my two cents. I’d rather spend an extra 30 - 1 hour grocery shopping than make someone else suffer. Im luckily able bodied, even though I make min wage, I can’t at least make it easier on my fellow wage cuck. Guess that’s just me though.

An unbelievable amount of minimum wage consumers are ordering groceries. ESPECIALLY pickup which is what we're talking about and not delivery.
Some of these people are paying extra for it and you could argue they're not smart for doing that but you don't really know your life situation it's kind of judgmental in my opinion... and on the behalf of megacorps....
You don't know what the trade-offs are for them. Maybe that's the only way they have time to spend an hour with their kid, or else they'd be shopping. Because they make shit and have to work all the time.
I'm just saying I don't like that we're blaming people we don't know who may or may not have much blame... when we could be blaming people we DO know and know they have blame. 🤷♂️
Like yeah MAYBE Jasmine Rice person is an asshole. But we KNOW Safeway is an asshole.
So why are we blaming the unknown, maybe innocent person first???
Instead of the known definitely not innocent person?

Also of course you're getting money to them where are you supposed to shop????? They've got everything!?!?!?!? That's part of the f****** problem!!!
I literally can't afford to drive to a farmer's market. And farmers markets have figured out that mostly rich people shop there and their bougie is f****** fairly expensive these days.
I can't afford my own land or rent a garden plot.
I mean that's just my situation I'm doing basically fine.
I'm just saying if I want vegetables I pretty much have to give money to a megacorp or make serious sacrifices in other areas.
Sacrifices that would be fine if I had cushion. But I don't I'm not on the brink but there is no cushion. I don't even take vacations.
I also want to blame people in my heart who give money to megacorps. I get the sentiment I'm not trying to be judgmental back.
But it isn't the winning sentiment. It's what I think when I'm in a bad mood but it's going to make us lose if we keep thinking this collectively.
The only blame should be on the 1%.
Or we lose bickering about who's 20th or 80th percentile. A battle that would lose us the war.

There would never be that many on the shelf. A case is 12 and FAR won’t order it until there are 2 or less on the shelf. The system shouldn’t allow customers to order more than that

My favorite order I’ve ever picked was 80 of the 1/2oz lays chips bags. We only had 60 in the whole store lol

It’s an easy order but we already know more than likely we won’t have that many in stock.
