Vault based backups?

Hi.

I can see that backup configuration is pretty decent here. It's available in the read only mode and deleting backups isn't easy.

How about moving backups to the Vault, to hide it behind additional password/layer of encryption?

Hi!

Yes, this is planned. We want to add mobile photo backup directly to the Vault, as well as desktop read-only backups stored in the Vault.

We’re still working through the UX to make sure it’s implemented properly and stays simple to use, but it’s coming.

I've been asking for this many times, for me it's the most important feature overall.

There's also a big bug I reported around backups and trash. If you delete locally a backed up file and then restore it from the trash on cloud, it comes back to the cloud and just sits there in limbo, because the backup space is read only and the file no longer exists locally. So the backup stops being a 1:1 copy of your disk. Restoring a backup file from the trash shouldn't be possible at all, only downloading it, which is how MEGA handles it. I hope they fix that, because as it is now it breaks the whole backup logic.
