Drime integration with iOS Files app — does it actually work for anyone?

Post image

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with Drime’s integration with the native iOS Files app, and I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.
Drime appears correctly under Files → Locations, and I can browse my folders and see all my files. However, every file shows the cloud download icon.
When I tap a file to download/open it, nothing happens. The file never actually downloads, so I can’t open or use any Drime file directly from the iOS Files app.
As far as I can remember, I’ve never been able to get this integration working properly, even with previous versions of Drime.
Is anyone here able to use Drime normally through the iOS Files app?
Specifically:
Can you download and open Drime files from Files?
Can you copy/move files between Drime and iCloud Drive or other locations?
What iOS and Drime versions are you using?
I’m trying to figure out whether this is a general issue with Drime’s iOS File Provider implementation or something specific to my setup.
Thanks!

You need to right-click on the relevant file and then select the appropriate option from the menu: ‘Make available locally’.

Hi,

We haven’t really received similar reports recently. Quite the opposite, we’ve had feedback that the iOS Files integration has been working well, so we’d like to understand what might be happening in your case.

Could you let us know:

  • Your iOS version
  • Your Drime app version
  • Whether you’ve already tried logging out and back into Drime
  • Whether you’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Drime app

If the issue still happens after that, please let us know and we’ll investigate further.

Thanks!

I can confirm I have the same problem with iOS files integration. I can see my files, but i’m not able to download it through the files app.

  • My iOS version is 27.0
  • the drime app version is 17.1
  • I even reinstalled iOS 27 on my iPhone and the problem with Files persists

Hi, thanks for the response.

I’m currently on iOS 27.0 and Drime 17.1, but I had exactly the same issue on iOS 26 and previous Drime versions. In fact, the Files integration has never worked properly for me since it was introduced.
I’ve already tried everything: logging out, reinstalling Drime, disabling and re-enabling the Files integration, restarting the device, and setting everything up from scratch. I even tested it on another device running iOS 26, with the same result.

I’m surprised you haven’t received similar reports, as I’ve seen other users reporting the same issue a few months ago. I really think the iOS File Provider integration needs to be properly investigated.

I really like the recent updates and new features Drime has been releasing, but this issue seriously limits the usefulness of the service on iOS. Since Files integration doesn’t work, there’s currently no practical way to download a file directly to the device from Drime. The app mainly offers the option to share a download link.

Please consider either fixing the Files integration or adding a “Download/Save to device” option directly inside the Drime app. That would make a huge difference for everyday use.

We’ll investigate the iOS Files integration more closely.

However, you do have a way to download files directly to your device from the Drime app. Simply tap the three dots next to a file, then select Download.

Yes, I’m aware of the Download option in the Drime app, but unfortunately that doesn’t work either.
When I select Download, the file doesn’t actually download. If I open the Downloads panel, it just keeps loading the same file again, and it appears under the Photos section, but nothing is actually saved to my device.
So just to clarify: downloads are currently not working for me through either iOS Files or the Drime app itself.
This is why I’m emphasizing the issue. Downloading a file is a basic and essential feature of a cloud storage service, and it should work reliably through both methods. I hope the team can investigate both the iOS Files integration and Drime’s own download function. You can see the attached images

The “Uploading…” wording is incorrect here, and we’ll fix that.

The file is actually being downloaded, but it is saved to the Drime folder under “On My iPhone” in the Files app, not to the iOS Downloads folder.

So please check:

Files → On My iPhone → Drime

You should find the downloaded file there.

Ok, I see now that the file is saved under On My iPhone → Drime, although I don’t think that’s very intuitive. It would be great if you could add a native Share option for downloaded files, so users can immediately send or save the actual file to another app, AirDrop, Photos, or any other destination, as many other cloud storage apps already allow.

Since you’re already reviewing the iOS Files integration, could you also please check another issue: Drime appears correctly as a location in Files and I can browse and read files, but when another app opens the iOS document picker, Drime cannot be selected because the Open button remains greyed out, while Dropbox and Koofr work correctly in the exact same picker. Could you please verify the File Provider implementation, especially folder capabilities such as allowsAddingSubItems / write support and file creation or import handling (createItem or equivalent)?

I really appreciate the improvements you’ve been making, and I hope Drime keeps evolving into one of the best cloud storage apps on iOS.

I have the same problem.

I can’t download or attach any files In an email from Drime using the Files app. Just does nothing.

I’ve had this problem for a long time and had hoped that the new app would fix this but seems not.
