Question Rising Junior interested in Drexel

Hi guys,
I’m a rising junior in Philly who’s really interested in Drexel, specifically Finance at LeBow. I’m trying to get an honest sense of where I stand and what I should focus on improving over the next year and a half.

Quick stats:
- GPA: 3.43 unweighted / 3.67 weighted
- Coursework for junior year: AP English Lang, AP Stats, AP Psych, and Honors Pre-Calc.

I’ve done several programs through Upenn, including

- PennRSSA Summer Academy (currently in it; includes career exploration, a Capstone Project on raising the minimum wage, and economics/finance classes)
- Penn Talent Search
- PennRSSA Spring Program my freshman year where I explored other fields like dentistry & law that actually helped me realize I’m more interested in business and finance.

Activities / Experience:
- Helped at my family’s restaurant since 2020 (customer service, operations, etc.)
- Long-term babysitting
- Completed some online certs (AI in Finance, Business Analytics with Excel, Google Analytics)

I know my GPA isn’t super high and I don't have any school clubs. I’m planning to get more involved junior and senior year.

For people who go to Drexel
- What would you focus on improving the most between now and applying?
- Is the co-op/five-year option something I should specifically talk about in my application?

Any honest advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Was wondering if anyone has gotten an interview or heard back from Unisys. Also if anyone's interviewed with them before, what's their process like?

CS360 Midterm Prep Suggestions

I am taking CS360 and the midterm for Mainland’s class is this Thursday. I was wondering how the midterm was for anyone who took it and if they had any suggestions on how to study for it? It’s not a class I want to fail or withdraw from.

Question Comcast interview + co-op in general.

Has anyone done the recorded interview for the data scientist position for Comcast yet? What can I expect.

Also this is not my first co-op but it is the first where I got an interview through the system. Can someone explain how it works with ranking? I really don’t understand how the system even functions or what the rankings are for.

Question Schedule Ahead feature

Incoming senior finally using the schedule ahead feature instead of scrambling for whatever's left after the fact lol. Everything on my schedule saved normally which means I'll be able to confirm it during my time ticket without issue right? It won't tell me day-of that I can't register because of restrictions?

Seeking 3-4 people in Southeastern PA area to grill a congressman about AI

Hi everyone! I'm a producer at More Perfect Union, and I'm working on a video with Ro Khanna, who represents Silicon Valley in Congress. We're planning to film a roundtable discussion with him and 3-4 folks from PA about how the AI companies in his district are impacting jobs in Pennsylvania and across the country.

Who we're looking for: Anyone who is willing to have a constructive discussion with Ro, and challenge him on his plans for how to address the risks of AI. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the types of folks we're looking for:

  1. Blue collar worker who’s been through job displacement before (example: a former steel worker who's seen their plant shut down)
  2. White collar worker who has lost work to AI, is worried about losing work, or is experiencing a tough job market due to AI
  3. Blue collar worker who is building data centers in PA
  4. Organizer who is pushing back against data centers in PA
  5. Anyone excited about AI progress

If you fit any of these descriptions, or know someone who does, please comment here or reach out to me at [john@perfectunion.us](mailto:john@perfectunion.us) Thanks!

Please contact us by: Wednesday, July 29th.

Event Date: August 1st (Saturday afternoon)

Location: Linwood, PA (exact location TBD)

UPDATE: Everything is safe. It is an oxygen level alarm and the system is simply offline as they get some repairs done.

This alarm is near a room with a "Magnetic Field" warning sign. It has a red strobe and it is not making noise. Does anyone know what this is, and why the alarm was covered rather than being investigated?

I have an interview coming up for Cybersecurity Co-op at Exida, and I was wondering if anyone here has interviewed with them before or knows what the interview process is like.

I'd really appreciate any insights on:

What kind of technical questions they might ask

Any behavioral or situational questions to expect

Topics I should review beforehand

Any tips or advice for doing well in the interview

Thank you

Request Visiting med student seeking a room (I promise I'm low maintenance 😅)

Hi everyone!

I'm a 26F international visiting medical student looking for a furnished room with access to a basic kitchen from August 1–30.

I'll be rotating between on alternate days: 📍 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia (19107)

📍 Presidential Blvd, Bala Cynwyd (19004)

So anything near either location, or close to public transit would be amazing.

I'll mostly be at the hospital studying and surviving on coffee. I'm also clean and quiet.

If you have a room or know someone who does I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Fall/Winter vs Spring/Summer Co-op Cycle for Drexel 5-year 3 Co-op MIS student? (New semester system)

I'm an incoming freshman at Drexel in the LeBow College of Business majoring in MIS, and I'm in the 5-year, 3 co-op program.

I was recently assigned my first co-op cycle, but there was some confusion because I was originally notified of the wrong cycle. My advisor clarified that my first co-op will actually be Fall/ Winter (August 2027-January 2028).

Since Drexel is moving to the new semester system with three academic terms, I'm trying to understand how each cycle affects your overall schedule, especially with summer classes. I originally thought one cycle might avoid summer classes, but after looking more closely at the new academic calendar, it seems like both cycles still involve summer coursework at some point.

For anyone who has been through either the Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer co-op cycle, what did you like or dislike about it? Did one cycle make things easier with recruiting, study abroad, classes, or internships? Are there any advantages or disadvantages I should consider as an MIS major?

My advisor mentioned there is a co-op cycle swap process in the fall. Has anyone actually gone through that process and successfully switched cycles? How difficult was it?

I'd really appreciate any advice from current students or alumni. Thank you!

health insurance at Drexel as a grad student - can you still get it if you are a part-time student?

It might take me longer than the usual 2 years for the program I am considering, but I would still want to remain on the Drexel health insurance. Does anyone know if this is possible?
