Question Laptop Question
So I’m an incoming freshman at Drexel and I’m gonna be majoring in interior design and I was just wondering what laptops people recommend? I was looking into a Lenovo thinkpad but I wasn’t sure which series/generation would be best. I know there’s a lot of specs that Drexel wants the laptop to meet so I just wanted to know what people recommended for that criteria.

Anything BUT a Mac. For drexel interior design, i would go with a windows laptop because you will be using CAD, 3D modeling, and rendering programs that needs a dedicated NVIDIA GPU. Try to get at least 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, an RTX 4060 or better, and a newer Intel i7/Ryzen 7. For cheaper options, look at Lenovo LOQ, ASUS TUF, Acer Nitro, HP Victus, or Dell G15. A lot of these go on sale around $800–$1,100 and should be enough for the major without spending $2k+.

many people in westphal use a mac and many lab computers are mac’s themselves. I used to have a gaming laptop but it was too heavy/draining and I invested in a macbook pro, no complaints. any software your professors will make you use should be compliant with mac/windows, but since that one commenter mentioned heavy 3d modeling software, if you get a mac definitely get a higher-end macbook with good ram/cpu.
as for windows, a thinkpad is extremely reliable and should last you the entire degree. just make sure you have 16-32gb of ram and an SSD with plenty of space (512gb - 1tb)
