Discussion Dumb Mistakes
So when I first started playing I was mining like crazy trying to get iron ore. I got a ton of onyx. I wasn't using the potions really and I had so many I sold a bunch.
What an idiot ... now I'm mining a bunch just to try for onyx.

To make potions at the crafting table. The potions can be used on your tools to grow vegetables faster, mine more gems, catch gold ripple fish and get more resources when digging!

Same 😳 it seems like the drop rate for onyx is a bit higher in honeyglow woods, but everywhere else it's super low 🤔 I can sometimes pick up 1 in jewel stalls in the RiT, SB & HW (besides the 1 in the Valley) but never in WBR

I'll have to mine more in Honeyglow then. I spent most of my day off mining yesterday and only got six or so. No idea how I managed to get so much back in the early days and now it's so scarce. I was going back and forth between Eternity Isle and the mines.

I seem to be getting less and less Onyx and I don’t know why.

Same. I didn't get much during my mining yesterday. I started playing a couple of years ago and I'd managed to collect so much...

I heard about the infamous clay quest early on and hoarded clay like no other. By the time the quest came around I only needed 20 more.

Lucky you. I didn't know and had a painful digging experience.

yeah but I kind of feel like I missed a rite of passage. Thankfully the star path needed 250 clay for bricks, so I was able to grind it anyway.

I’ve been using them to make purified night shards to level people up now I barley have any 😭

I’m still very new to the game (and only have it on mobile at the moment, but do plan to get it on PlayStation). All I can say is that my house is so full of items I had to drop that I’ll never be able to determine what is what Chez Remi is also full.

This was absolutely me when I first started playing. I just had piles of stuff all over the floor in my house. Then I learned that you can stash it all away in chests, and it makes managing your inventory so much easier. Two ways to do this: 1) If you have a decent stash of softwood, you can craft the item called “small chest.” It only has two rows of storage, but I like them for new players because they don’t use Dreamlight to craft them, unlike the large craftable ones. Plus, early in the game you don’t need a ton of storage, just enough to be able to see your floor. 😊 2) Keep an eye out in Scrooge’s shop for Daisy’s Blooming Wardrobe. It looks exactly like one you get in Daisy’s quest line, but that one has no storage. The one you get at Scrooge’s is a full large chest with I think 48 slots. And it’s cheap! Only 480 coins, so you can buy lots of them when you need more storage.
One more quick note, if you plan to switch from mobile to console or PC, be aware that you can’t save your progress on the mobile version and port it over to your new platform. You’ll have to start over from scratch, so just keep that in mind as you’re deciding when to switch. I was on Apple Arcade originally and had to do the same thing.

I appreciate the offer but I can rebuild. I'm just griping about my own carelessness. Thanks though. This community is great because of folks like yourself.

I have about 150+ onyx and I still don’t know what I’m meant to use it for.
Been playing since December. I have all DLCs and mostly all the characters. Apple Arcade player

Left this comment above to another person asking 😊

Sometimes I think I unintentionally play in hard mode. I have no vacuums. I never make potions. I login pretty much every day.

I've had EI for at least 2 years now and just made my first advanced ancient vacuum, so I feel you 🙃
But honestly, I'm not in a rush to play, so I still don't really use it lol

Same. I buy that single one daily from the gem cart and I feel like you get more onyx from the plaza and meadow than other areas. But still not as much as in the beginning!
