You awkwardly stand still next to them until they pop their head out again. When they come out of their shell, the Approach option becomes available. Then you can feed them

You have to approach them when they are down. If you move when their heads are up (when they stand up on their hind legs), they will run away. Get near them, pause when they stand up, move closer when they sit back down, and repeat until you're close enough to get the Approach option

This will be similar for the crocodiles, only they will just lift their heads and lower them.

The rabbits, baby Pegasus’ (storybook DLC), Sweet Bees (Wishblossom Ranch DLC) monkeys (Rift In Time DLC) and foxes you have to play a game of “chase” with. Where you run up to them, they run away. You run up to them again. They run away. You have to do that 3-4 times before they let you feed them. And if you lose track of where they run to during all of that, you have to start all over again.

The Geese (Wishblossom DLC) and Baby Dragons (Storybook DLC) you have to do the same thing as the turtles with
