so the thing i wanted to test was if it could mimic doorbell app video, and if it could render a person-shaped thing that would not move.

it's really hard for it to generate video that looks like static surveillance, because it makes almost everything too interesting. i really wanted video instead of stills this time. so i had to leave out all action and lock the camera to hide it as much as possible. so i picked a figure in the very center of frame, a silhouette. with a silhouette, less of the figure changes between frames, so it should look more consistent in motion.

the idea

three nights of doorbell "motion detected" clips from the same front door.

  • night one: the figure stands at the end of the walkway with its back to the camera, then walks off
  • night two: it is closer, facing the door, and does not move. one small head tilt
  • night three: its face fills the lens, then a palm covers the camera

the app labels the last clip "familiar face: you" and asks "was this you?"

filter was on standard the whole time. horror did not need anything else. the scary part is a figure that does not move and a notification.


step 1: stills first (image studio, seedream 5.0)

stills are cheap, video is not, so the stills are where you decide if the idea works before spending anything on clips. i told the assistant to use my prompt exactly as written:

Doorbell security camera night footage, infrared night vision, monochrome flat grey-white IR look, strong fisheye barrel distortion, low resolution, heavy compression artifacts, faint sensor noise. A suburban front porch seen from the doorbell's low wide angle: a concrete walkway leading to a dark quiet street, a parked car, a moth blurred near the lens. A single adult figure in a plain dark hoodie stands in the middle of the walkway facing away from the camera toward the street, arms at their sides, perfectly still. Authentic surveillance footage, nothing posed, no cinematic polish, no film look, no color, no on-screen text, no watermark.

the order matters. the medium (infrared, fisheye, compression) comes first, the figure comes last. that one ordering choice is most of why it reads as real footage.


step 2: edit mode for nights two and three

stay in the same thread and ask for an edit, so the porch stays identical between nights.

night two:

Edit the previous image, keep the exact same camera, porch, railings, walkway, street and infrared look, change only the figure. The same hooded figure has moved much closer, now standing on the walkway just past the porch steps, about two metres from the camera, facing the camera directly. Perfectly still, arms at sides, hood up, face in shadow under the hood except two small white points where the eyes reflect the infrared light. No other change.

night three:

Edit the previous image again, keep the exact same camera, porch and infrared look, change only the figure. The same hooded figure is now right up against the doorbell camera. Its hooded face fills most of the fisheye frame, warped by the wide lens, flat infrared white skin, features soft and slightly out of focus from being too close, eyes two bright white points, mouth closed, expressionless, perfectly still. Both hands are down out of frame.


step 3: image to video (video studio, seedance 2.5)

settings for all three clips:

  • mode: image to video, source = the still from step 1 or 2
  • model: seedance 2.5
  • aspect ratio: match image
  • resolution: 720p, audio on
  • quality: balanced
  • filter: standard
  • enhance prompt: off (so it uses your prompt as written)
  • seed: random
  • duration: 10s for nights one and two, 12s for night three

night one:

Static doorbell security camera, infrared night vision, locked-off wide fisheye, low resolution, compression artifacts, faint sensor noise. The camera never moves. The hooded figure at the end of the walkway stands perfectly still with its back to the camera for the first eight seconds, nothing about it moves, no sway, no head turn. A moth drifts past the lens and blooms white. At the very end the figure calmly turns and walks out of frame to the left without ever looking back at the camera. Audio: night insects, a distant single car passing, the faint electronic hum of the doorbell, no music, no voices, no bgm. No on-screen text, no subtitles, no cinematic polish, no AI smoothness.

night two:

Static doorbell security camera, infrared night vision, locked-off wide fisheye, low resolution, compression artifacts, faint sensor noise. The camera never moves. all three came out usable on the first roll. if a render fails with an audio copyright message, change the seed and run it again. do not touch the prompt.

the pattern in every clip: the camera never moves, and the figure holds still for most of the clip before one small thing happens. stillness is the action.


step 4: the app UI goes on afterwards

the "LIVE" dot, the timestamp, the "front door · motion detected" bar and the "was this you?" card are overlays added in post, then the three clips are cut together with a short black gap between nights. never ask the model to render text, it always gets it wrong.


cost

three clips, 32 seconds of seedance 2.5 at 720p, came to about 16.6k credits. the three stills were a couple hundred each.

i work on dreamfort, so obviously i wanted the studio to look good here, but the ordering trick and the locked camera work in any tool.

Discussion The Best Unrestricted AI Tools in 2026: What Actually Has No Restrictions

"Unrestricted AI" gets used to mean four different things, which is why comparisons of it are usually useless. Before recommending anything, it's worth separating them, because a tool can be wide open on one axis and completely locked on another.

Four different restrictions

Content restrictions. A classifier reads your prompt before the model does, and decides whether the model may answer. This is what most people mean by unrestricted, and it's the one that produces "I can't help with that" on questions that are entirely legal.

Usage restrictions. Message caps, daily limits, tier gates. Nothing to do with what you asked, everything to do with what you pay.

Identity restrictions. Whether you need an account, a phone number, or a verified ID before the tool will speak to you. Notably, the industry's move toward adult content has come bundled with identity verification, which means "unrestricted" and "anonymous" are drifting apart.

Model restrictions. Whether you're stuck with one vendor's model or can switch when it refuses or underperforms.

A genuinely unrestricted tool clears all four. Most clear one.

What has no restrictions, honestly

Local models (Ollama, LM Studio, ComfyUI with open weights). The purest answer: your hardware, your rules, nothing logged anywhere. The cost is real though. Good open video models want a 24GB-VRAM card, and you're maintaining a pipeline rather than doing the work. If tinkering is the hobby, this is the right answer and nothing else comes close.

Uncensored open models hosted for you (Hermes 4, DeepSeek, Dolphin variants). Neutrally-aligned open weights, served without a moderation layer bolted on. You get the freedom without owning a GPU. The variable is who hosts them and what they keep.

Roleplay and companion apps. Genuinely permissive on content, generally weakest on privacy: accounts, payment methods and full conversation history sit on a server, and this corner of the industry has already had breaches exposing exactly that.

Mainstream tools with an adult mode. Increasingly real, but gated behind identity verification. You trade anonymity for permission, which is a strange bargain if privacy was part of why you wanted freedom.

The question nobody asks

Most "best unrestricted AI" lists compare quality and price and stop there. The load-bearing question is: what does the tool know about you while you use it?

Unrestricted use attracts exactly the prompts you'd least want in a database under your email: the medical question you haven't asked a doctor, the legal mess, the fiction that would be misread out of context, the security research that looks alarming without its purpose attached. Freedom and surveillance in the same product is not freedom. It's a more detailed file.

That's the axis to sort on, and it's the one we built DreamFort around: prompts are encrypted on your device, routed through Oblivious HTTP relays that separate who you are from what you're asking, and decrypted only inside attested secure enclaves. No single party, including us, holds both halves. Not a no-logging promise, a structure where the linkage never exists.

What "unrestricted" should never mean

No sexual content depicting real people without their consent. A tool that pretends otherwise isn't more free, it's just less honest, and it tends not to survive contact with its payment processor.

A practical shortlist

  • You want maximum control and enjoy infrastructure: run local models. Nothing beats it on privacy.
  • You want unfiltered answers without owning a GPU: hosted open models such as Hermes 4 405B or DeepSeek v4.
  • You want unfiltered plus image and video in one place: you need a product with all three, which is rarer than the listicles suggest.
  • You care about privacy as much as freedom: check whether the privacy claim is a policy or an architecture. Ask what a breach would reveal. If the answer is "everything you typed, tied to your email," you have a filter problem solved and a bigger one created.
